Me too. I’ve flown a lot of CBR-SYD and vv on a 717 and always quite liked them.

That was good timing. Just got off QF1500. (YQW lools like it will be my last QF 717 flight)
Pushed back early. Arrived at SYD gate 15 mins early. Got to international transfer bus just as there was one boarding.

Things going well so far for a short D-I connection in SYD.

It and the C17 however are two aircraft that can push back under their own power, no tug required (known as a power back), both made at the same factory

I just don’t understand how 4xA220 are replacing 20ish 717s, recognising that some of the workload has been taken on by the Ejet fleet. Not that many 717 crews are trained up on the a220 (pants would be mid seniority list and has not done line training as yet)

A lot of 717 flying has been taken over by 737s temporarily or routes suspended

The 717 utilisation was also not as high compared to other fleet types.

Even when they had the full contingent of 20 aircraft, they could have covered the schedule with much less.

Some bases were notoriously lax (CNS, DRW, HBA). MEL has been pretty well flogged for its short history IIRC

I assume that it would be very similar to the old DC9's? Or are you a young whippersnapper who never flew on one

I recall boarding an AA "717" in Washington and inspecting the manufacturer's plate as I boarded ( don't we all?).
The placard was stamped as a DC-9.

The relationship is very strong as I assume Boeing inherited all of the DC-9 approvals

CBR-SYD is one of the biggest impacts for me. With no 717 from next week there's only 1 flight each day with J class (on a 737), dropping from 4 flights with the 717.

Given VA outsources the route to Link with their Saabs (obviously no J there either) that leaves us with 12 J seats per day to compete with against politicians and SES public services.
