Latest Velocity BP Fuel Offers

Got the 500 + 500 for Ultimate offer yesterday - went to fill up today. Price difference between Ultimate and regular unleaded was about $5.50, so about 0.6c per point

I also received the 500 + 500 offer, and did the maths.....

If I go out of my way to a BP which has actually has U91, and buy 30 overpriced litres, those 500 points would effectively cost me 0.6¢ per point.

If I go to my local BP, and buy 30 litres of way-overpriced U98, those 500 points would effectively cost me 1.98¢ per point.

Pass.

I had a look today and the difference between BP Ultimate and budget petrol is ~26c/L. For 30L that's quite a difference so the question comes down to do you want to spend $7.80 for 1,000 Velocity points? Compared to flights that's a cheap way to earn points.

Now to work out how to use the terminal without the Velocity membership card.

^To be eligible for the bonus Points promotion, members must successfully activate the bonus Points offer online between 21 April 2016 and 5 May 2016 and then complete an eligible Ultimate fuel (petrol or diesel) transaction and swiping their Velocity membership card or a BP temporary card, between 21 April 2016 and 5 May 2016. No minimum spend is required. Members will earn 300 bonus Points on their first eligible fuel Ultimate transaction made between 21 April 2016 and 5 May 2016. This offer has been sent to specific members and is not transferrable. Members should allow up to 5 weeks after 5 May 2016 for the bonus Points to be allocated.

So yes, diesel ok,.

I got the 300 point offer too

I agree with you. Totally happy to spend $7.80 for 1000 points since after conversion to Krisflyer it works out as $31 worth of points for J from LHR to MEL. Wouldn't have done it if I wasn't needing petrol though - I only fill up once every 2-3 weeks.

Also, in case anyone's interested, here are the T&Cs for the 500/500 offer:

And Velocity card failed to swap when I topped up with ultimate yesterday. Meaning too bad, so sad. No retro fuel claims as I understand it, even with the receipt. Pretty darn annoying.

So you cannot enter the Velocity number manually? Forget what the keypad looks like. Might just be a swipe facility only.

I'm not sure. I tried swiping 4 or 5 times and it just kept going to the payment stage. "Insert card". Luckily the operator was happy to cancel and retry all those times. I'll top up with another couple of litres of ultimate this weekend to see if my luck changes.

C
ould have picked up a temporary card, set up a 2nd account and transferred points ??

Filled up my diesel tonight, asking about ultimate.

Staff member said it was only select company owned stores, none in my local area.

Will need to do a top up of unleaded in the partners car soon. ;)

Could have picked up a temporary card, set up a 2nd account and transferred points ??

Yes and no and not sure. The offer is for my account so a 2nd account would be no good. But there is nothing to stop me linking the temporary card to my existing account. Not sure if the temporary card would swipe as that function seemed to be completely broken. Not sure is the temporary card would transfer to my account as an ultimate purchase.

I smell a conspiracy theory somewhere folks....

Activated the 300 points offer the day it came in. Filled my car yesterday with BP Ultimate, and swiped my Red Velocity membership card. The terminal displayed "Velocity card stored" so I paid and went on my merry way. When I got home, I noticed the docket had no points, so membership data or anything relating to points earn. In hindsight, I should have checked in store and requested action, but the terminal display had clearly acknowledged my card.

This is where it got interesting. I rang Velocity, who confirmed activation, he couldn't figure what had gone wrong. Eventually he asked how old my card was. I said it was issued in 2009 when Velocity started, but was in excellent condition.

BINGO. Velocity then advised that only cards issued after 2011 would be accepted. It was a BP issue, not Velocity and therefore there was nothing they could do. He was very nice and offered a goodwill 100 points contribution, which he applied immediately. The gesture was appreciated, but I'm still bummed that I missed the other 200.

That's a pretty significant provision right there, which I might add does NOT appear in the T&C's. Onya BP.............

Does anyone remember the 3x points on third fill, 4x points on fourth fill (and for some people 5x on fifth)...

Has anyone's points posted from this ? I am signing up for all these bonus points targeted emails but just getting regular points...

Can you activate Global Wallet? That will then get you a new card that should work.

Not last time I checked, but at that time I think I worked out the points aren't due until next week. They're pretty rubbish at actually giving over the points, I'm sure I'm still owed points from earlier promos.

Nope, not a point yet and I did five fill-ups. Just happened to do a lot of driving that month otherwise I wouldn't have managed it. Did a couple of $20 fills to start off to make sure.

I got a 300 point offer to use their overpriced 98 fuel. Wonder if I'll bother - tomorrow is the last day. No minimum spend at least so a couple of litres then the usual fill. Price is too high at present though at about $1.24 for 91.
