Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

And you will keep waiting - it's never going to happen:(.
Anyone see a pig fly recently? Hope no one is holding their breath.

I think someone at Qantas has got a little spreadsheet somewhere with the number of instant Platinums that would be created if Lifetime Platinum were introduced.

Qantas gets nothing out of it unless people here think some people are seriously going to strive to reach 35,000 Lifetime SCs. That's a conservative number of Lifetime SCs. I think it would be much higher if ever introduced.

35,000 LSCs?
Easy peasy.
Two of them in my household! :)

BA has it if you remain OWE equivalent with them for about 23 years which is 35000 TP's. If QF had the same it would be 28000 SC, double what LTG is currently.

This would be a fair, and achievable level. BA also has lifetime GGL (a tier with far greater benefits than P1) at 100K TP's.

If QF wished to attract and retain these types of flyers then the BA scheme is one they should take a serious look at.
There are already people jumping ship due to "Simpler and Fairer". Lack of a level beyond Lifetime OWS is another important factor.

I think that is exactly the point. QF is already too exposed with LTG and the pool of potential LTPs out there is a liability they don't want to accrue.

The smart move would be to actively monitor high LT SC balances and offer incentives for these LTGs to keep going .... Eg. Invites to First lounge from time to time, etc.

That won't cut it for us. :)
Maybe for a limited number of existing LTGs...

Wish I had learnt of that alternative path much earlier, PF. By the time I caught up with it here, it was way too late to switch. The penalties of being an ancient person. :)

My question is a " little " off piste. My LTS is not that far off but LTG seems aeons away. I do however have LTQP. I did wonder if these (LTQP & LTS ) worked in tandem ? Logic would dictate they would. But with simpler and fairer I'm not so sure !

I don't think it's quite that simple... when I had status with VA, I was more likely to fly them. That's kind of why airlines offer status in the first place.

Someone whose Lifetime Gold has kicked in needs 1400 credits to hit the next level, and can enjoy Gold benefits otherwise, so the incentive to chase status (direct discretionary spending towards QF) just isn't that strong.

That was my point. Too many instant Platinums.

And yes I do realise you are Platinum already but how many Lifetime Golds are sitting there with enough SCs already for instant Lifetime Platinum? And once you are lifetime Platinum who says you have to fly Qantas or even credit flights to Qantas?

Qantas has said Lifetime Platinum won't be introduced. I believe them and even they did introduce it will be a stretch target not 28,000 SCs. Just look at Hhonors Lifetime Diamond.

I agree that QF are not likely to make LTP available as it would be too much liability for them. But if QF want to retain their loyalty with LTG members, QF should as part of LTG benefit, reset the SC of LTG members to 700 each year as their start point for the year. This would then provide incentive for LTG to remain loyal to QF, as it would be easier for them to reach P.
Similarly, LTS should be given 300 SC at the start of each year.
This would encourage loyalty without undermining the value of the higher FF tiers in their program.

Nice idea but wouldn't you make it 600/250(is that the requal for PS?)

Anyway my take is if you/we want QF to introduce LTP, then the best bet is to convince *VA* to introduce LTS/LTG/LTP equivalent.... imho

Not me but MrP this morning.

Given he had most travel with Ansett up until that day with high status there, this has meant a lot of flying. Especially with fairer and simpler from Adelaide.

I am similar to Mr P. I was an AN loyalist prior to 2001's events and really probably had <100 QF SC's between 1998 and that time. I also missed a lot of flying domestic between 2001-2004ish, so really I probably have earned most of my LTG in the last 10 years. Yes, a LOT of flying!

I am at 30K+ SC - not bad since November 2007 - most of it domestic - so it is not like I can go anywhere. Now if VA made them count for something (and improved their catering) that might be an incentive to me to fly more VA and for QF to keep me!

I would also like to be able to achieve WP easier when I finally get of the WP1 and WP hamster-wheel - maybe if QF is so scared of it reduce the SC requirement for WP for LTGs as a sliding scale based on various SC counts 21K, 28K, 35K, .....

My hope is the fact that it keep on counting upwards must mean something .. one day ... hopefully ... or is that wishful thinking !:o

Don't say that you don't have AAnywhere to go because you do...
