Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

Congrats! This thread made me check my lifetime stats..still about 4000 SCs to go..

Did anyone else note that if you earn 7000 SCs in one year, not only do you get lifetime silver in one year, but QF give 100,000 bonus bonus points. Wonder if anyone on AFF has hit that milestone?

Jobu probably.
It would be far easier (and cheaper) to get a couple of CC's with attractive sign on bonus

Thanks Fred. I thought we were talking about the increased points that will be needed on some awards after march.

The changes to a fare based multiplier for AA RDMs will likely happen in the second half of 2016. The exact date and the method of calculating partner flight RDM earnings has not been determined (yet). EQM earning changes on 01 Jan 2016.

In the meanwhile, AA status will be relatively easy to earn (though I still believe QF will remain easier) and RDMs will be basically under the old system. Awards will be slightly more expensive - except in long haul F where they will be a lot more expensive.

Enjoy while you can. And Bill has a reasonable window to learn and earn.

Happy wandering

Fred

Yep, passed 7k in one year a few times. Still waiting for Lifetime Platinum though! Crediting lots of flights to a FF program that does offer lifetime emerald status at the moment.

I am still waiting for my lifetime platinum too. However I have not been close to 7k SC in one year that's wow Â

I suspect that anyone flying in paid for premium cabins doesn't really need life time status. All the benefits that accrue from that are included when they fly. anyway

Sure. But when you retire its nice to get the lounge etc when you might be flying a cheapie Y flight.

And if they have spent a decent amount of time flying in paid for premium cabins they are most likely LTG any way.

I still some benefit in life time status. e.g. most of the flights out of Canberra to and from Sydney are one class economy. Having LTG allows me to go to the Qantas club for those flights. I also have this vague feeling that having status might mean Qantas and its partners might look after me a bit better if things went wrong with a flight. We are (and always have been), totally self funded flyers, so, I have never chased status lifetime or otherwise, but once I realised it existed, I did see it as a benefit, even though we pay for premium cabins. I am quite happy now to tuck it away for future use and go and explore other airlines.

I propose another thread regarding lifetime status and age, as those with lifetime status at a younger age will technically obtain a greater benefit. My aim is LTG by 35, ensuring at least 40 years of benefit from it ;)

Many of the 'oldies' here probably were long term Ansett people and had reached considerable status with them. Our house included.

agree how about the "Member of the 35 LTG club" status  - I obtained LTG at 32 (5 years as a QFF member) - soon to hit the 10-year member level and I now have 30,000+SC and waiting (and waiting) for LTP...

Ha!

"Lifetime status" levels were introduced on 15th September 2001.

At that time I was already over 40 years of age.

Good for those of us who prefer to travel on cheap airfares.

LTG by 32? You oldies! I had it by 30 ;p

I suspect QFF won't introduce LTP until someone can prove it's costing money by not having it on the table and without affecting other metrics within the existing structure of the program. I'm not sure LTP is the silver bullet, especially when the people it would affect are premium cabin flyers anyway. There's likely a more strategic approach that would play well within the group and achieve similar outcomes to what LTP would accomplish.
