Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

LTG by 32? You oldies! I had it by 30 ;p

I suspect QFF won't introduce LTP until someone can prove it's costing money by not having it on the table and without affecting other metrics within the existing structure of the program. I'm not sure LTP is the silver bullet, especially when the people it would affect are premium cabin flyers anyway. There's likely a more strategic approach that would play well within the group and achieve similar outcomes to what LTP would accomplish.

40. I feel so old.

Congrats straitman.

6 years of travel for me to hit the LTG and achieved before the big four zero.

Making it to LTG took us both way longer than others because we travelled coach for years and we joined the frequent flyer program about 30 years ago. Then along came credit cards so redemption flights became an opportunity.
JASAs and FASAs lasted long enough to get us there before they were withdrawn.
We do fly quite a bit now but mostly on points and miles because we can.

JASA and FASA were big movers for my SC earn. But without AFF I suspect I would still be living in the wilderness that is whY.

I'll give you three examples:

- priority waitlisting
- seat selection
- access to F lounge if you are flying J
I think it's well worth its weight when things go wrong - saves a lot of time with dedicated phone lines if you need to make changes, and first to be rescheduled should there be a major delay or cancellation (which for places such as SYD, it can very well be the difference of being put on the last flight for the day or being stuck until the morning).

So none of those apply if you (usually) book and fly paid for premium?

Late edit: I was unaware that flying in J and only being Gold gained you access To the Qantas F lounge.
I can't seem to find reference to that in the T&C's .
If this is correct, then I agree Gold is good.

New news to me too.

It's not correct. Gold = J lounge only irrespective of COS (unless travelling in F).

WP only access to F lounge. Which is probably why there will never be LTWP.

Sorry to be clear I was responding to the comment about "life time status" not talking only about life time gold.

- there's priority waitlisting for premium cabins? I thought it was first-come first served?
- since there's only Lifetime Gold, you don't really get that many better seats available compared to someone who just stumps up cash
- since there's only Lifetime Gold, there's no access to F lounge based on lifetime status

Edit: I see you've posted a followup about generic lifetime status, rather than QF Gold, but lifetime OWE status in some other program (I guess BA?) doesn't help with waitlisting for QF flights or seats AFAIK, and this is a thread about QF Lifetime Gold.

Yep, passed 7k in one year a few times. Still waiting for Lifetime Platinum though! Crediting lots of flights to a FF program that does offer lifetime emerald status at the moment.

I am still waiting for my lifetime platinum too. However I have not been close to 7k SC in one year that's wow Â

I suspect that anyone flying in paid for premium cabins doesn't really need life time status. All the benefits that accrue from that are included when they fly. anyway

hope the above sequence of posts clarifies what I was talking about...
