Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

I’ve got some residual QP membership from ages ago. Is there an unpublished request that can be made? How long does the refund take? Do they really look back 10+ years to see how much you paid and the calculate CPI etc to determine residual value?
When I claimed mine back they just looked at how much I paid, time left on it (it was a 4 year membership) and pro rated it. definitely no CPI :)

I just sent an email to QF FF centre and asked them to pass onto the relevant area.

Yes, put in the request. I think mine took over a week because the card account used for the purchase is now closed and the amount had to be refunded to a different card. They had to phone me for these details and play phone tag which took time.
No CPI (obviously you are joking). Just pro rata calculation by the month.

Reckon they'd do that for lifetime QP? I reckon I only used it for 2 or 3 years.

I’m interested to know this also.

FYI, I’m currently sitting at 13,7XX SCs. I called and asked and they were willing to refund the unused portion for ‘people like me’ who are close to LTG and as I carefully explained ‘plan to travel with QF soon’ (ROFL).

My 3 year QC membership would have been paid for about 12-15 years ago. I was able to secure a discounted ADF rate at the time of $250 AUD per year. So doing the math, I should have been refunded circa $220 (10/12ths of $250). Instead, I was refunded almost $500! Perhaps they don’t have records going back that far so they’ve made an assumption to calculate the refund.

I sympathise. In my case I had a month on my QC membership when I first went SG and by the time I fell from WP it was to LTG. So I only lost one month of QC!

I dropped from many years as PLAT to Life-Gold beginning this month with 18k SCs. I expected this, because I only had 50 SCs in my account. No call about my travel plans, just an automatic switch in the app. In the past I could visit the F-Lounge only on a few trips. Most OW-Airlines that I use have no F at all. I moved most of my travel to *A trying to build a Lifetime *G there. My LTG is a sweet fallback for the routes that are not served by *A.
I thought about QF for my next trip to Australia - but since I dropped there is no use into that at all. A LTP would encourage to retrurn - of course.

It's amazing how liberating LTG is. There's no way I could requalify as Platinum this year anyway and since there's no LTP to work towards I just.. don't care. So far all my flights have been on points. I'm halfway through my year and I have 20 SC! I didn't even register for the last double SC offer. It's amazing! :)

I never bought QC membership. Seemed redundant when travelling with work colleagues who had it. Besides Cocolat at Adelaide airport made a blinkin good hot choccie and sold orange halves (dried orange dipped in half of chocolate)

The recent 4 year deal looked a stunner but I had the view that I’m 80% of the way there so I may as well spend on airfares ....so the next two years are covered by status.

All going well, should I do the 100th anniversary visit every 56 domestic destinations really wont need to ever purchase it

I hope they introduce something above LTG, like AA has.
Even if many years in the future as a crinkled old retiree I couldn't use the F lounge when travelling, I would at least like the Domestic Business lounge. The QP is a zoo and I could fracture a hip.

We have been using our LTG for a few years now and I don’t mind the QP - as retirees we tend to travel in the middle of the day, so haven’t found it particularly full. The biggest issue has been using the International business lounge in Sydney - really poor standard, particularly when paying for J. Kenyan Air’s J lounge in Nairobi was better!

AA's LTP is OneWorld sapphire, the same as QF's LTG. And I don't believe AA sapphire members get domestic lounge access in the US, which would put QF above AA.
