Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

I'm in no hurry to get there, as flying with QF is not on my radar at the moment - haven't since May when they started their decline (done 18 sectors with VA since then as retaining Plat there is much more important):

You are certainly close enough that if you ever changed your mind and decided you needed it you could get it in a hurry.

Maybe my fears are unfounded, but I am worried they will change the rules at some point.
Has there ever been an airline that has either eliminated lifetime elite status benefits or increased the requirements? I reckon doing so would eliminate alot of long term loyalty towards the airline to say nothing of the logistical challenge of determining who gets lifetime status (i.e. for those who qualified for lifetime status under the old program do they still get to keep status?)

True, I'll wait until I have to fly with them - either they only fly the route, scheduling and/or cost makes QF more commercial commonsense. I'd certainly favour them on the BNE/[SYD/MEL]/PER trips I do, because of aircraft type. If they sweeten the deal with a DSC, then I'd be more serious about bringing back some flying.

Has he been drinking that much bubbles in the lounge he needs to go to AA?
I always thought it was AAA (American Airlines Anonymous) or perhaps QFA (Qantas Anonymous). For the latter, I have a confession to make: I do pick up more croutons from the snacking station than is allotted to the typical patron! 😂

Ansett eliminated my lifetime membership of Golden Wing and all my status benefits (and points) at the same time.
Yes but when was that? And what ever happened to Ansett? 🤔

When it happened is irrelevant if it was a lifetime tier (and you are still alive.)

Google can fill you in on what happened to Ansett.
Unfortunately, they can always interpret the word "lifetime" to mean something other than the member's mortality. The "lifetime" of the program may be somewhat less than the lifetime of the member.

My father used to state that the toys he made after he retired came with a "Lifetime Guarantee" .... his lifetime. Sadly, the guarantee for all of his manufactured toys expired a few years ago.

Just like the lifetime of a lettuce vs prime ministers. :)

BMI is one example, when BA took over the program it was too bad so sad, start again.

AA is another, in a way - shifting of status by adding Platinum Pro for example so dropping the 1MMers down the chain.

Ahahaha. Of course not. Not even received an email with congratulations or acknowledgement.

I reached LTG a few weeks ago and got an email a few days after the SCs credited. I’m Platinum at the moment so no updated physical card, as expected.

Is Qantas still doing physical cards. I haven't had one for three years.

Need a Qantas Cash Mastercard attached and you get a new number on renewal each year. Mine has a small non zero balance and it must be a decade since I last looked at it.

Maybe not for non Oz residents

Mine’s zero balance also but I didn’t get a new card back in Jul/Aug… I must check if it’s still active.
