Because one of the benefits of SG/WP is lounge access with a guest so figure they assume you don't need the pass also

Agreed - DR FM and Master FM are both LTS/LQP but get their free pass every year.

you get one every year on your anniversary. Not too bad. If you're not flying frequently enough to make gold, you probably aren't in that much need of regular lounge entry (and you can pretty much get the same thing with QF club membership).

LTS is a nice sweet spot - everything bar lounge access: free exits and premium seats on CX, free seat selection on BA seven days out, business check-in, call-backs from the QF call centre rather than on hold for two hours, and of course better seating and a free bag in the USA.
