Little Miss TomCat has landed!

I've got a friend who photographs babies - she said she needs to get them in the first week or so to ensure they can get the good naked asleep shots. After that babies are more likely to wake up when being undressed and posed.
Yep we did it in the right timeframe but she refused to play ball. Undressing then wakes them up even when they're sleepy babies...

In years to come Baby Tomcat is going to be amazed at how her every move has a special thread on AFF.

A friend was a professional photographer and like mentioned, majority of the cute posed images seen are composite images as a good photographer will refuse to do anything with the baby that may have any risk of harm. A lot of baby photographers out there don’t have the same concerns...

She's had a big couple of days. First nurse visit, where she weighed in at 2.8kg.

Yesterday we went out for lunch (Japanese) and today we had lots of visitors then went to a brew house for a friend's birthday drinks. She's handled it all like a champ with barely a peep.

She's a little trooper then; hopefully she will remain the same in the future and not be fazed by new experiences.:)

I think if you can get to ‘em when they are young they don’t even know anything different, assuming good health etc allows that. And just as soon as you think you’ve got it down pat the little blighters change again.

The same goes for being held by strangers. Get them used to it early, so they don't fuss when great Aunt Morag visits on her tri-annual trips.

It’s tricky these days to educate and socialise for ‘strangers’ who are ok and those who are not.

its all got very sad - the whole “it takes a village to raise a child” is just gone out the window.

We had tickets to a show that came with a whole lot of junk, chocs, ice cream etc. I didn’t want my ice cream (it was sealed in a plastic bag) and thought I might give it to one of the kids around. Ms FM became almost hysterical at the suggestion and said I would be a) yelled at by the parent b) thrown out of the theatre by security.

I know there is stranger danger out there, but perhaps the pendulum has swung too far.

I just mean so they won't scream as an infant when being passed around, not so they'll trust every weirdo as a toddler, which is a completely different prospect.

Congratulations to you!

From an old bird, to a young one - the only advice I can give you is the same thing I tell all new parents:

If she's having a bad night and won't stop crying - take her in your arms and look out a window up at the night sky.

Know this fact: there are more than a million other young mums/dads out there doing exactly the same thing as you right at that very moment. It won't make the crying stop, but there is sometimes great relief when you realise you are not alone x

I agree, and learn the full words to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to gently sing it over and over. You'll all find it relaxing. ;)
