Little things I like

The British Government are scrambling to to pick up money from every possibility. Ten pounds was too cheap.

Zip on waterproof jacket has been broken for years and I was cleaning out the wardrobe and decided to see if it could be fixed. I rang BFC which is the stockist and they said try a local place https://www.instagram.com/hilton_hemz/

She said it will either be $10 if she can fix the zip or $65 if she has to replace it and much as I hate throwing clothes away I baulked at $65. She said leave it with me.

Less than 15 minutes later got a text - it is fixed so I went back to pick it up but the shutters were down and I realised I was 3 minutes after closing. I texted and asked if she was still there and up came the shutters.

Incredibly impressed with service and cost - I would have paid $20

Guy I got to know through family history 20 years ago, I've kept in touch since - lovely guy. Over the past 7-10 years we've just kept in touch via Christmas cards. He's had cancer for about 5 years, with ups and downs of course.

I sent him a card last Christmas and he sent me one, with the shocking news that his cancer and general health had gotten very bad and he had booked in for voluntary assisted dying in February. I carded him back (no e-mail) with sympathy etc.

Just got one back - he had to have an X-ray to progress to the next stage of approval for VAD and .... cancers (3) have gone!!! Zilch! May return - but for now he's good.

Just phoned him up and he sounds 10 years younger and planning his next moves :) . I'm taking him out to lunch.

Only downside is that he's emptied his house!

Great outcome @RooFlyer
Hope you both enjoy that belated lunch/get together 🍻🥂

Today I turned adversity into a positive. Two young fellows racing through the Woollies car park. One on an electric bike and the other electric scooter. Came close to skittling me. they were probably doing 40Kmh. I called out limit 10Ks. The fellow on the bike turned round and came back. I thought to myself how stupid can you be.
The fellow said what you goin to do about it. then.
So I said the new government has changed the rules so if you skittle an old bloke like me and he is injured you will go to jail even if you are unde 18. I added and I have been to jail and believe me you don't want to go there. I think I got a bit of street cred as he took off.

Had an over 70 colleague thinking about not spending the 10 pounds and just turning up. I suggested he not do that as he would be coming from Perth and would be tired. The chance prospect of being sent home is worth paying up and keeping the British economy on life support with 10 quid GBP.

The desire to go fast without a licence is getting out of hand on the coast. Couple of lads around Caloundra have a moped that’s unregistered they drive on local footpaths, another has a cart with a two stroke I have seen in the bike lane to Currimundi, Driver and cart would be lucky to be a feet tall when in motion! And it’s now a common sight to see scooters overtaking traffic on Nicklin Way at dusk, often poorly lit.

The Darwin Award has some strong contenders in the youth of today.
