I wouldn't spend big until you've checked the app to make sure they have registered. I have found (at least at Coles) that when you make LC, other transactions on the same day (before you are officially LC) get the points too
thank you !

Is there any way to see where your LC points are being recorded. I know there is that gold banner with the count of points you have achieved but I would like to know what the source of the points is. Then again I would also like to see this on a detailed Rewards balance as well!

After a long trip away (>30 days), I lost my LC kingdom to others and I am now looking to regain my rightful territory.
I note that at my local Woolies, using my Charge account with no transactions on it as a guide, that currently 15 transactions are required to earn LC status. On my Edge, I have now made 14 transactions at that Woolies (as registered to my billing account in the last 25 days) but it still states that I have 9 transactions to go to earn LC status on the Edge.
Has anyone called Amex to argue the case with respect to LC status or is it all too hard? I should be regaining my territory with one more transaction today but there appears to be a big bug in their system at the moment.
Never tried to argue but can see your point. I've found at Coles that transactions on the same day and those under $30 rarely credit. Nothing about this in T&Cs
By the by:-have you not considered discounted eWISH cards-5+% off has got to be better value than an extra LC point
I spoke to AMEX extensively about the problems they've been having with Coles transactions counting towards LC status and got nowhere. Eventually I just gave up. In all other cases I've had such good and prompt responses from AMEX, LC transactions is the exception.
Let us know if you raise it and have any success.
If I rule out any transactions less than $25 then the numbers add up. I made a transaction this afternoon which was about $27 and the transaction registered instantly, reducing the total to go by one. So it appears that some minimums may have been put in place at some locations.
I do not know if I will bother chasing it up with Amex if others have tried and got nowhere. It is most likely run out of the US and therefore no one in Australia would know how it operates anyway.
May be misunderstanding you, but if you click on your points balance (on the website not the app), it gives you a breakdown by transaction (though not for LC points) . Am also assuming you collect MR and not QF/VA
As advised by my colleague earlier that you can only become Local Champion at certain selected merchant locations. The list of available merchants is listed when you sign up. You don’t need to identify yourself to the merchant, as American Express will handle everything on our side.
I'd also like to share that the title of Local Champion is updated in real time, so the title can be won and lost very quickly. This may mean that you lose your Local Champion title before you have a chance to win any additional Membership Rewards Bonus Points.
I hope this puts your concern to rest.
Have a nice and pleasant evening ahead.
Sincerely,
I got to 10,585 before saying thanks for playing game over
