Lotto AU$90,000,000.00 - what to do with it?

More importantly, would I stop working? Surprising to some of you, the answer is no. I probably will be able to write my own agenda a bit more, but something needs to keep you sane even with all that money and time you would have.

I think at $90M I would find it hard to keep working where I am - maybe some ad hoc charity work here and there. Also with that sort of money and travel plans it would be hard to find an accommodating job...

And now I have done so. Will have to verify my identity when I get back to Australia, but all's good. Got my entry.

Seeing as I live in NSW I can't buy my tickets online - what a very stupidly run state we have :(

The sad thing is that the money will probably be won by someone who lives out the back of Liverpool, who'll decide to "keep working so I don't get bored". Unfortunately, most people who win large amounts of money have absolutely no clue about how to enjoy it. Sadly, they don't become "rich", they just become poor people with a lot of money.

There are several opinions out there as to what is "rich" and what isn't. Ditto for the definition of "enjoying 'riches'". And who ever said that if one is in possession of a lot of money that one should give up a job?

There are several people around the world who do not have a lot of money, yet they are content or happy. Then there are others around the world who have a lot of money, yet they are miserable.

I would probably keep working even if I won the jackpot, unless I was getting quite old/close to retirement. I enjoy the challenge in my field; a challenge which becomes a lot easier to embrace and enjoy when the additional/incidental challenge of needing to produce an income is removed.

What I would not like to see is the winner of the money end up like several sad sagas seen mainly in the US of those who have won absolutely obscene amounts through the lottery, then have not only (in the main part) squandered such money in an inordinately short amount of time, but have also degenerated as a human and/or hurt others around them.

Well as a single bloke first stop is to a very good lawyer so no one ever gets to rip it off me. Any future relationship will have an air tight prenup. You get the pleasure of me not my money. :)

A few months at a fat farm to lose a few kilos whilst planning the AONE5 to beat them all. Will get lifetime platinum in a short time. I know it doesn't currently exist but I am sure that with a promised (and realised) spend of several hundred thousand dollars spend per year QF might just be convinced.

Residences around the world for me to visit and have a permanent winter. Hate the heat. I will be on a first name basis with F crews around the world.

Oh the dreams, it would set me up for a few lifetimes. I'm a selfish cough so very few people would know until I died and they got a pleasant surprise at the reading of my will.

Which online (legit) sites will let a UK 'resident' buy tickets? Tried Tatts - but that seems to only allow Pools to be sold to UK residents.

I used to have a Golden Casket online account but never verified it and it's now lapsed.

Any other suggestions?

Try this link - :: NSW Lotteries :: Buy Lottery Tickets Online

You need to be a registered 'player' in NSW to enter on that site.

As for working, if I won $90M I'd probably keep doing what I am doing for a while longer. After all, to paraphrase Kent Brockman after his $130M lottery win, I'm not the sort of person who gives up a seven-figure salary just because I don't have to work anymore.

See what happens when you emmigrate: you can't get rich

Try https://site10.lotto.tatts.com/Default.aspx
Guess you still have an Au CC& Au adresss

But I have the winning numbers !!

Why not? Spend a couple of hundred thousand dollars and organise an AFF DO overseas, possibly Singapore or Thailand, and invite some of my AFF friends for an all expenses paid trip....

Here YE, Here YE, Let it be known if I do win. I promise to select 10 AFF members (Priority given to the ones I have already met) and a few real friends:shock: to an all expenses paid AFF PISS UP, I mean meet at a dart board chosen location!

Division 2 will do me fine - I just want enough cash for a 6 month vacation and to sustain me through my return full time post-graduate studies next year.

Although I like the idea of spending yearlong winters between Hokkaido, Alaska, New Zealand and Chile.

As I didn't want to share the $90mill with my other 17 coworkers at work (group syndicate), I went out over the weekend to buy my own ticket which I'm not sharing with anyone..... I have already mentally spent 1/2 of my $90 mill winnings:oops:

We are never alone. :( There is always someone that would like/fight for a share of the winnings. ;)

Yeah I know :) Still in tourist mode at the moment, so not getting rich at all ...

Still looking at the various online options. $90 Mill could make some people very corrupt and persuadable, so not sure you can trust everyone!

Hi all,

After thinking about it, I would grab mrs ejb, a toothbrush, the Amex card and head to the airport and spend a long time traveling. No plan no bookings just show up and grab the next flight and see where we end up.

Of course I would put the $90M in the bank to earn the interst so the trip could continue without eating into th $90M.

I have to say - I like your idea :!: :D

Although I'd add make sure you bring your FFP cards.

That's an answer that I can certainly relate to :!:

Finally managed to sign up for them (their website is just about dead!), but note that have a huge markup on games.

Eg - a single game is $2 vs $1.10 (Tatts and NSW Lotteries). On the sort of tickets I'm after - that makes a huge difference to cost.

Hmm.

Tatts (VIC) won't let me sign up for anything other than "Pools". NSW won't let you sign up unless you have a player's card. My account with QLD is restricted (because I never validated my identity).

Looking for other options...

Yeah I just signed up online as well, and had to purchase a Members Card too!

Anyway, whoever wins, can start the the new Financial Year by seeing a specialist Financial Planner / Tax Lawyer and minimise their future tax obligations ;)

Kids can still fly in economy, they have their long haul y apprenticeship to do
And maybe a new range rover and cut it down to a ute!

Deposit the cash into an AFF'ers account. Have them PDF you the Ticket (before the draw!) so if it's a winner, you know and they don't cheat you :).

IF you do win. Give the AFF'er $1M as a whopping big thankyou :)
