Deposit the cash into an AFF'ers account. Have them PDF you the Ticket (before the draw!) so if it's a winner, you know and they don't cheat you :)

Yeah that's what I'm going to do - although not through AFF, but another friend. Much cheaper and easier than paying 95% more through a website for the same thing!!

Good that you have that option. I saw on the news tonight they estimate two thirds of Australian adults will have a ticket!

$90M is quite a lot of money. One must be careful, though, not to get carried away and develop Conrad Black-style delusions about being a billionaire. Purchasing a BBJ might sound like a good idea, but running private jets, multiple houses with full complements of staff, and supporting a wife who quickly develops a lust for haute couture would make even $90M disappear rather quickly.

I remember reading something about a large number of lottery winners having very little to show for it 12 months after their win. Of course, I can't find the reference, now.

The sad thing is that the money will probably be won by someone who lives out the back of Liverpool, who'll decide to "keep working so I don't get bored". Unfortunately, most people who win large amounts of money have absolutely no clue about how to enjoy it. Sadly, they don't become "rich", they just become poor people with a lot of money.

I have to say I don't understand how this is a bad thing. Do people need to change their lives now that they have a lot of money, and does it make them happier? I would argue that those that do what they were always doing and keep themselves grounded are the most sensible.

I'm fascinated that so many people in this thread said that they would just put it in the bank and live off of interest! Haven't you ever heard of dividends? :)

The other theory I have is that when the big 1st division draws come about, everyone puts many more entries in and so the prize is often shared multiple ways, such that it's often less than a standard 1st division prize winning.

So in some ways, you might be better off putting an entry in on a normal lotto week, rather than for this draw.

I don't suppose it's time to inject a bit of reality into this that the chance of winning Division 1 (7 from 45) on any particular game is 1 in 45,379,620 (45C7), is it?

Well I have got some entries in so if I do win the 90 mill by myself I will shout all senior AFF members to a drink at one of my favourite bars!Just dont read my list:cool:.
I was going to say all members but then I saw there are now 15,385 all up and the place would get a bit too crowded.
Now my chance of having to pay up:lol:

I figure I've got a 50/50 chance - I'm gonna win it or I'm not! ;)

I suppose you could have 45,379,620 entries for ~$50M and guarantee a share of 1st Division. (+ numerous 2nd, 3rd, 4th .... )

They showed this on ACA last night, that for $54mill, you are guaranteed to win 1st division...the only problem would be if someone else won 1st Div and you'd have to share it!

In more balanced times that is certainly the case but at the moment many financial wizz kids will recommend leaving money in cash.

Yes, but this has now a 7 week jackpot. 50M last week and no single let alone multiple winners.

So in some ways, you might be better off putting an entry in on a normal lotto week, rather than for this draw.
In some ways you are better off not buying a ticket at all, but as they say 'You must be in it to win it' ;)

Well with 72 entries in our office pool and an extra 24 on the side for me, I've got better odds than the 1 in 45,379,620. 45,379,620 by 96 is 1 in 472,704. I think.

I would disagree about your odds. It would be correct to say you have 96 chance out of 45,379,620

(thinking about it, I may be incorrect) *confused*

.... and I thought you were saying the same thing :!:

And I'm still confused But not to worry..... Good Luck to everybody here on AFF for tonight's draw. I do hope one of us here wins the darn thing!!! ;)

If I happen to win it  I won't be telling but if by chance I am at AFF#3 and not somewhere 15hrs away, and if I am the one with the open bar tab you could safely infer that I have won BIG! ;)

Good luck to everyone here; even if one of us just wins one of the minor divisions.

There is always a chance that someone who is not yet part of AFF and wins a share and wants to do a bit of flying then they might come to this website to get ideas from us about travel tips and airline routing suggestions.

As usual ACA have got it wrong, using a system entry you can get about $1.06 per game, which is more like $48 mil.

Really ozlotto and powerball are for mugs. The odds of Saturday (monday and wednesday) lotto is about 1 in 8 mil. priced at about 50 cents per game. So only about $4 mil to cover all options.

So what were the winning numbers? I can't get onto any of the lottery sites to check at the moment.
