We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Unsure if this is asked before but I can't seem to find an answer online so thought I'd check:

What is the lounge access policy for Qantas Gold members accessing Emirates lounges with regards to additional guests? Is it simply the QFF member that can get in or can they bring a colleague?

According to this, it should be +1 regardless of QF or EK Flight#.

I'm guessing you're looking under the Partner lounges heading? If so, I would be curious if the EK lounge is considered a partner lounge or if it's under some separate rules?

This page (posted up thread) is silent on guests - as far as I can see.

1 guest, but the guest needs to be travelling with the Qantas status member (presume same flight).

This is in contrast to the oneworld guest access policy where the guest needs to be travelling on a oneworld operated and marketed flight; not necessarily the same flight as the status member.

They wouldn't have access to the lounge at Geneve as they are on a Y ticket. That being said, they aren't missing out on much since Etihad doesn't have their own lounge at Geneve, instead relying on partner Marhaba for lounge access which has a very limited food selection and doesn't even have restrooms inside the lounge. The only decent lounge at Geneve was the Swiss lounge which had showers, good selection of food, etc. However, to access that lounge you need to be flying Star Alliance (Swiss, Lufthansa, United, Air Canada, ANA, etc.) in Business class or better or hold Star Alliance Gold status whilst travelling them.

I think I already know the answer but thought I'd double check just in case. I'm a Premier Gold member with United and am thinking of flying NZ domestically. I take it that I would have access to the NZ lounges domestically no problem as a UA*Gold?

I think as long as you are crediting the earn to NZ you can enter the lounges. There's quite a lot of discussion on FT about this as some NZ elites have found that if they credit their NZ flights to SQ then the lounge staff won't even let them in the lounge.

Just to clarify I'm a Premier Gold elite with partner United airlines, so I'm guessing that's fine (so long as I input my United frequent flyer?)?

It seemed to me that Air NZ are a law unto themselves regarding lounge access re star alliance golds.

If you PM Thai-Kiwi on FT he knows all about the rules I think. He's domiciled out of New Zealand.

To be clear - I suspect those trying to credit to SQ are also trying to use their AirNZ Air Points Status benefits. Air NZ don't like that; it is similar to QF blocking members trying to use their Qantas SG/WP status to access a QF lounge while crediting to a non oneworld partner such as EK where they have no status.

In reality AirNZ are breaking *A rules with that.

In any case, a Star Alliance *G crediting to the the carrier where they are *G should have no issue using *G status benefits before an AirNZ flight.

That would seem to contravene the official Star Alliance policy

Star Alliance Gold Customers travelling in any class of travel​

As a Star Alliance Gold customer travelling in any class on a Star Alliance member airline operated flight, you have access to any member airline lounge at the airport where your flight departs, if the following conditions are met:

• You present your boarding pass of a Star Alliance member airline operated flight which departs at the same day as your visit or latest by 05:00 AM the next morning.
• If your boarding pass does not carry the Star Alliance Gold indicator, you will need to also show your valid Star Alliance Gold card.
• The lounge displays the Star Alliance Gold logo at the entrance.

You are entitled to bring one guest travelling on any Star Alliance flight departing from the same airport on the same day. As of May 3, 2021, the guest must be traveling on the same flight.
If you are a United MileagePlus Star Alliance Gold customer, you may only access the United Clubs within the U.S. when departing from that airport on an international Star Alliance flight, not when departing on a domestic flight with United.

I have Star Gold via TAP and have a couple of NZ domestic flights booked in Feb so I’ll be a tad disappointed if no lounge access is offered

Edit: sorry, just saw EK Gold. You should be fine with access, as I believe the flight is ticketed with the EK flight number. Use your EK number with the booking; I think you can add that via QF manage booking. No value in adding the QFF number unless you are WP or higher with QFF, as that would get you F lounge access

I believe both should be fine. You may want to try the EK lounge over the QF J Lounge.

Hi All, I am looking to book a business special ticket on Emirates flying from Singapore which has no lounge access provided (as well as a number of other things not provided). Presumably this will not be an issue as I have Plat status with Qantas so I should be able to access the First lounges in Singapore and Dubai? Has anyone booked a similar type fare and had any issues? Thanks heaps.

Indeed, Qantas WP have access to the EK DXB first lounges when flying an EK/QF partnership route.

I have not come across any stories of such access being denied. (I'm sure if such were happening, we would know of it.)

Thanks @serfty it threw me a bit as it seemed to also not register my QFF number despite me putting it in during the booking and it does not show on the confirmation either. However when updating details via the app for the booking, it mentioned that I had listed a partner FF number so I am assuming it is registered there. Will find out in April when we are there I guess
