Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

If Qantas' rules apply then 7yo in addition to guest would be allowed.

Hello, flying tomorrow ADL-DOH, then DOH-MAD on QR. Similar on return, other than departing Barcelona. Do I have access to Qantas lounges or any others please?

Youll get access to the Virgin lounge in ADL with a QR flight (if flying biz class)

Lounge access is dependent on class of service or status.

If you are in business or first class, OR, hold Qantas gold or higher (Oneworld Sapphire or Emerald) you will have lounge access. This includes any oneworld lounges or third party lounges provided by Qatar (for example VA in ADL).

Hello,

Looking for some advice on the access rules for the QF business lounges in AKL.
I’m flying on a JQ flight - booked as Qantas reward booking on a JQ number.

In the fine print regarding JQ flights on the eligibility page on the QF page, the following is listed.

Jetstar refers to Jetstar Airlines (JQ), Jetstar Asia (3K), Jetstar Japan (GK) and Jetstar Pacific (BL). Must be travelling onwards on a Jetstar Airways operated and marketed flight in the business cabin on a business max fare. Lounge access is only permitted from Gold Coast Airport, Sydney International, Melbourne International, Denpasar International, Singapore Changi International, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International, coughet International Airports and Honolulu International

However, this doesn’t seem to be right as I have accessed the QF lounge in MEL T2 on a Jetstar Economy Starter Ticket.

Just want to get a feeling how this works in AKL, as I’d like to avoid spending too much time on the airport without lounge access.

Thanks

That fine print seems to relate to lounge access when travelling on a Business Max fare. As a Qantas SG, WP or QP member you will have access to the QF AKL lounges. As a OWS or OWE you will not have access.

QF lounge at AKL is airside international terminal, so no access if flying JQ domestically in NZ.
Well that’s a moot point given there are no lounges domestically in NZ. And no I don’t consider NZ operated lounges in NZ domestic lounges either!

Then she said, you have to be travelling together on the same ticket.
The agent was wrong!

Seems she mixed up the rules for guesting between Qantas Gold Frequents Flyers and Qantas Club Members - they are different.

With Qantas' rules:

- a guest of a Qantas Club Member needs to be travelling with the member on the same Flight (not necessarily the same ticket).

- a guest of a Qantas Gold Status Member needs to be travelling QF, JQ or oneworld®# marketed and operated flight on the same day; does not have to be the same flight. Qantas Flight Number comes under QF.

Would I be right in thinking that if you have an international business class flight that you can use any airport lounge of that airline's alliance or lounge of airline that they partner with?

As a general rule, yes!

There are some exceptions, depending on the alliance. For oneworld for example certain lounges are restricted at various times during the day due to capacity constraints. In some laces such as Europe you may be restricted on access depending if the lounge is in the schengen area or not.

But those exceptions are not all that common.

Hi I'm traveling on CX J as a one world Sapphire. I believe the Kansai KIX Cathay lounge is temporarily closed. Is there another one world lounge to get access to? Thanks!

There are several listed on oneworld.com lounge finder.

The CX J BP will most likely come with a lounge invite to the preferred lounge that CX is currently using but that BP should get you into any other accessible OW operated Lounge.
