Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

Partner lounges

Partner lounges are operated by, or on behalf of, other airlines at selected ports to which Qantas operates. Associated lounges may only be open to Qantas members two hours before Qantas departures, please refer to specific lounge location for access information. The use of complimentary invitations is not permitted in Associated lounges.

Dallas Fort Worth - AA Flagship Lounge (Associated)

Dallas Fort Worth - AA Admirals Club Lounge (Partner)

Partner lounges are co-branded as Qantas lounges so I'd have assumed the Admirals Club would be available to you as you would have the same eligibility as a Qantas Club member.

(Please note Lounge Access Passes, including Complimentary Invitations, strictly do not permit any guests or children.)

There's probably a more definitive answer here: Lounge Access Help Desk

Hi my apologies if this question has been dealt with elsewhere. I just couldn't find information on this question.

Can I use a Qantas lounge pass invitation at the DFW airport? Is there a Qantas lounge there?
QF does not have a lounge at DFW and passes can’t be used there.

Yep, I took an AY flight from HKG to HEL last year in business and I had access to all of Cathay's business class lounges.

The Pier (near Gate 65) is the one to go to. The rest are subpar / average.

Howdy MelbFlyer,

Thanks for the confirmation. Appreciate you getting back to me!

I've got some business class flights leaving MEL and PVG on non "home" / OW airlines later in the year.

Flying MU business from MEL to PVG - Two conflicting sets of information:

I assume that due to not having QFF Gold or above status even despite being in business on MU, I won't have access to the QF International lounge in MEL, according to the below matrix from Qantas' website :

However, an article by Point Hacks seems to mention MU business passengers having access.

Generally I'd trust the airline's own website, but then Point Hacks is considered somewhat a reputable source.

I'll also be departing PVG on CI in business as well - it is much harder to find what lounges are available prior to departure (nothing on the China Airlines website - only listing their own VIP lounges - PVG isn't listed and there's no "official" Pudong Airport website either).

I've had a look at both Loungebuddy which seems to be outdated, and also shanghai-airport.com (which isn't an official Pudong airport site), both seem to imply that there's paid access for all lounges within PVG, irrespective of the class of travel.

Appreciate any first hand experience, thankyou!

The info for your situation is indeed confusing. The Qantas website says you only get lounge access based on class of travel if you booked a QF codeshare. I suspect at check-in MU will just direct you to whichever lounge they have an arrangement with at MEL (could be QF or a priority pass lounge).

In PVG, you will be able to enter the MU lounge as it is part of SkyTeam, or whatever other lounge they offer. A quick Google suggests it's the No. 36 China Eastern Lounge (which is also a paid Plaza Premium lounge). CI may also offer you a choice of a food voucher in lieu of lounge access, which is what they do at SHA/Hongqiao.

Thankyou, and yes it is indeed a bit confusing.

I did also refer to the "Eligible travel class" section of the Qantas website and it doesn't mention MU (only QF, EK and JQ), hence the confusion / grey area.

Regardless, I'm sure I'll be eligible for at least one lounge in MEL, but I'm just curious on which one.

I've been to the QF International business one and it's just average, but it's better than nothing! Honestly QF should just buy out the Marhaba lounge / swap to get at least some tarmac views! That's probably the biggest thing missing from the QFi MEL lounge tbh.

For MU J class at MEL, it would be whichever lounge MU has contracted with. I'm not sure which they are using but for SYD it's QF J.

They would tell you at Check in and potentially give you a lounge access pass.

For PVG, assuming you're travelling in J on CI again they would have where they direct passengers for their J class. I'm not sure what skyteam alliance rules are (as I just used Skyteam Gold) but there are many lounges at PVG that MU operate that aren't around like 137. I know OW J tickets has access to partner lounges but not sure if that's the case with Skyteam as well.

Hi - is anyone aware of a way to pay for access to the Qantas Melb First Class lounge and best contact/method to arrange? I am Plat and travelling on QF with dad and grandad and would like to try get them both in. Alternatively, also happy to let them both go and I'll stay out...but how frowned upon will letting one use my boarding pass to guest the other be? Usually travel alone so not usually in this situation!

Hey you won’t be able to get them both in and you stay outside.
If you ask nicely they might let you guest both of them in.

There is no paid option for F lounge access.

If you post your date of travel on the lounge guesting thread here someone may be traveling and able to help out with a spot.

Thankyou, I know I'll get lounge access as I've got business seats, but just more wanted to know which one that I'd be eligible to enter as neither the Qantas website nor a Google search for PVG yield any useful / concrete results.

I guess I'll find out and post back later in the year!

Thank you for the advice! Have posted in the lounge meet ups...fingers crossed.

Pretty sure MU use the QF lounge in MEL.
In SYD there is also the SkyTeam own branded lounge which if open would allow access to all ST flights.
As for PVG there is a stack of lounges MU use and CI would have access to some or all of them I’d think

I'm just not sure if Skyteam Alliance benefits are the same as OW where travelling in J opens you up to partner J lounges. I've only travelled in Skyteam recently after having Eliteplus so I had access regardless of booking class.

Not sure how old Grandad is, but if he can mange to look frail and exhausted at the front desk, I'd bet that the agent will wave him through if the lounge isn't packed.

Hi I am flying Qantas J class on a Qantas booked ticket to Auckland next month. My question is obviously I can use the Qantas lounge in Brisbane but can I access the Emirates lounge?
Likewise on return from Auckland, can I use the Emirates lounge there?

AKL is opens 17:15 - 20:30

BNE is open 17:00 - 01:30
