Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

What's wrong with the international lounge?

Nothing wrong if they allow me to return to landside after use. I think QF F lounge is far more superior to the domestic one :)

I'm going to have a 10 hours layover. I need to visit the city to meet some friends. Just wanna take a shower before going to city.

Worst case scenario you can always take the train to get to the Domestic terminal.

+1 and I think that's what will be needed; although you can always ask and if agreed to, then fine. (It's not far from the Transfer station to the Train station).

Sydney International Airport (T1) Guide | Qantas

Transferring from T1 (International Airport) to T2 and T3 (Domestic Airports):
The Transfer Lounge is located on the Arrivals level of Sydney International Airport. After you clear customs, follow the signs located outside the terminal, entry is external to the main terminal within a short walk via a weather protected walkway. Recheck your baggage at the Seamless Transfer Check-in counters and then board the shuttle bus for the Domestic terminal. It operates from 6am to 12noon every 10 minutes and from 12noon until 9.00pm AEST every 20 minutes. The bus arrives at T3 at Gate 15. Check the screens for departure gate information. Passengers connecting to a flight not operated by Qantas or QantasLink should refer to the Sydney Airport website for further information on transfer options.

(Back last Decade, a WP card was all that was required to use the transfer bus - once they even printed a 'dummy' BP for me.)

So the QF bus is not available for pax transferring from QF to OW. Interesting, our boarding passes (CBR-SYD, SYD-HKG) were issued in CBR on QF logo card, so maybe when they were checked at the transfer point we just got lucky.

According to QF website it is available:

Transferring from T2 and T3 (Domestic Airports) to T1 (International Airport):
The Transfer Lounge is located airside (after passing through the security check point), at Gate 15 in T3. A shuttle bus service is available to passengers that are travelling or have travelled on a Qantas flight (including codeshare flights) or oneworld flight. The shuttle buses operate every 10-20 minutes from 6am to 9.40pm AEST. On arrival at T1 proceed up the escalator, through immigration and security to your departure gate.

No - *O is fine if T3 to T1 - the excerpt above is for T1 to T3; here's what it indicates for the other direction.

It's a bit moot re oneworld, since QF are the the only oneworld Metal out of T1/T2. The key word is operated, so BA or AA flight numbers out of SYD T3 would be operated by Qantas or Qantaslink. (I don't think there are AA codeshares on JQ any more).

And no mention of JQ.

Do I have access to the Admirals Club in SAN as a QF WP if I'm flying in Y on an AA codeshare operated by AS. I know the OW rules say "marketed and operated", but I vaguely remember people here saying that AA considers all AA flights to be "virtual AA metal"...

I had a worse outcome than your worst case scenario. I checked in everything at First check in area and left. Then I returned and ask whether I could use the boarding pass to board the transfer bus.

Guess what, the agent was not sure and she called her supervisor. After being questioned, I was lectured that it's not allowed to leave the airport after check in, and have the luggage held and boarding pass taken away. Now I've no lounge access and need to report back after i come back to the airport.

Maybe I was too honest to tell them my intention.

Oh dear! The $5.40 for the train seems such a bargain after that.

I did not mean to suggest for you to ask at the First Check-in; rather at the ''seamless transfer" facility - apologies for not making that clear.

No, that's not your fault. I understood what you mean. I just don't know why I feel like asking them first lol.

I felt sorry for the check in agent. I think she's going to have a lecture from her supervisor too.

Hey everyone. I am flying scoot SYD - OOL - SIN on thursday and trying to figure out if I have any lounge options at Sydney. I already have paid for scoot in style which has me covered for SIN but so far got nothing for Syd.
I'm currently VA plat, however I'm after any options and I'll find a way if possible.

Any suggestions?

Hi There,

I'm interested in the access rules to the new "a380" lounge at DXB.

I have a Qantas J flight on QF1 departing at 2am, however I arrive at 6am the previous day from a CX J flight.

When exactly do I get access to the lounge? Any time in the 24 hours prior to departure? The T&C's say same day - but given it is a 2am flight - i doubt that would be enforced literally. Ideally my wife and I want somewhere to grab breakfast and a shower before exploring Dubai for the day. If there is something suitable at Terminal 1 where we land for a shower/breakfast that we would have access to - that would be fine as well.

Thanks in advance

if you are 'in transit' on a tickrt you have lounge access between your connecting flights. you could arrive anytime after your 6am arrival and be gain admittance.

so if you arrive, go in to town for a few hours or whatever, you'll be fine to use the lounge as soon as you get back.

How about if i go straight to the lounge for a shower/breakfast and then head out. I assume repeat entry isn't an issue if I try and get back in say 10pm that night?

Edit: My apologies, thanks for your prompt reply

Multiple lounge entries aren't a problem, but i don't know the immigration and transit set-up.

many countries will frown at passengers leaving the departures area to (re)enter the country. Someone with experience of DXB will know the arrangements there hopefully. If there's an arrivals lounge that's easy!

A bit of a google found articles on Emirates and FLyerTalk which seem to suggest it is no problems for Australians. (or anyone eligible for VOA).

I'd even go so far as to suggest it is encouraged. Why not - we'll be spending money on the local economy. I just need to work out what we actually want to see. and then learn the cultural rules :)

Quick query - in terms of QF F lounge access in SYD, does QF actively enforce the 'must be travelling on same flight' rule as opposed to one also travelling on QF but different flight?
