Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

We're flying out of CNS today (13/10/2018) on CX to HKG, as QF have no Int. lounge in Cairns (only domestic) can we access the CX lounge as Qantas Club members?

The CX lounge is independently operated as the "Reef Lounge" and accessible with Priority Pass if you have a membership?

Also, after the CX/QF codeshare agreement starts in two weeks you would be able to access the Qantas Club in Domestic prior to CX146, when booked on the QF flight number.

Hoping to see if people have had any experiences in obtaining lounge access contrary to the rules.

Later this month my wife, 3 month old child and myself will be flying to AKL.

Me flying on Air New Zealand, in economy, as an Air New Zealand Gold.

Wife and baby on Qantas in Business, as a Qantas Gold.

Flights are departing 15minutes apart, and hoping to spend some time together in either the Air New Zealand Lounge, or the Qantas Business Lounge.

Have any members here had some experiences with some flexibility in the access rules at those lounges?

To report back to the group:

No issues whatsoever in accessing the Qantas business lounge.

Didn’t try the Air New Zealand Lounge.

It’s been some time since I’ve been to the business lounge, and enjoyed my time there’s. Can’t get Coco-Pops in the First Lounge!

San Francisco - shower query.
Hi all. Flying into SFO on AirNZ later this month, connecting to a United domestic flight - approx a 2hr 20min layover. My reading is that the United (Polaris) International Arrival Lounge is only for United passengers - so even if I'm J ANZ that won't get me in?
As this is my first international-domestic connection through SFO it also looks like I'll exit landslide to make my way across to the domestic United terminal (Term 3). In that case, has anyone experience with the Freshen' Up service which I could access before going through TSA ? I'd obviously need to factor in time based on arrival time, clearing customs, etc.

This are more star alliance lounges than just the Polaris lounge at SFO.

However, my reading of the rules is that you need to be departing in international business or international first class to get Class of Service based access.

Hi all,

Quick question for the experts. Booked a premium economy ticket MEL-LAX-YYC. The MEL-LAX leg is with QF and the LAX-YYC leg is with AC in economy (no premium economy on the flight). We've just been upgraded to J on the MEL-LAX leg and 1 of the 2 pax is QF gold.

Question - Is there any complimentary lounge access in LAX based on the above booking and status? I feel like the answer is no but thought I'd check with the experts. The ticket was booked through the QF website if it makes any difference. Thanks in advance.

Sadly no since AC is not oneworld.

If your LAX departing flight on route to YYC flight had been on a oneworld carrier (marketed and operated) then lounge access would have been available by either the connecting Business class flight or oneworld Sapphire status.

At JFK T8 you have access to the AA Flagship first lounge. Not sure what the BA F lounge is like in T7, but I'm going to assume no better than the BA F lounge at LHR T5. Therefore I'd be leaving the airport and heading elsewhere. Neither lounge would be that appealing to me for that length of time.

Does anyone know if you can use a VA lounge pass (one of the two earned through Silver status) if you're not flying but are joining someone that is flying [in VA J]?

I have a trip to Europe booked and want to know what are the best lounge options I will have available to me. I am QF SG and have booked the below legs through qantas.

BNE-HKG QF J
HKG-DXB EK J
DXB-AMS EK J
ARN-DXB EK J
DXB-HKG EK J
HKG-BNE QF J

Note: the EK flights were booked through QF but are on an EK flight number.

TIA

BNE-HKG QF J - Qantas International Lounge
HKG-DXB EK J - Emirates (or Qantas Lounge if open) - I'd recommend EK
DXB-AMS EK J - Emirates
ARN-DXB EK J - Emirates offering
DXB-HKG EK J - Emirates
HKG-BNE QF J - Emirates (or Qantas Lounge if open) - I'd recommend EK

Note being in J and a QF SG you get Business lounge access based on both Class of Service and Status.

I would suggest the CX Pier J lounge as being the pick for the HKG-BNE flight.

Thanks for your help. Looks like I only really have options in HKG. I will check out QF/EK outbound and CX on return. :)
