Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

Re: Access to EK lounge at Singapore on QF J ticket?

Looks like there are only 2 business class pax, one of whom is a OWS. I couldn't find the MH lounge access rules anywhere... but from what you indicate they allow business class with no status to bring a guest?
Good point. Missed that detail.

Should be fine with each J pax guesting.

Re: Access to EK lounge at Singapore on QF J ticket?

Thanks all for your input. I wasn't able to find the lounge access rules either, probably due to the current renovations.

I was aware that J pax don't have guesting privileges under OW, but forgot to mention in my post that we are flying MH. I am hoping they have an exception as the operator of both flight and lounge (similar to the way QF J pax can guest into QF J lounges but other OW J pax cannot.)

Alternatively - does anyone know how quickly MH SC usually post to QF? The 2nd J pax will also hit OWS from SC earned on another MH flight three days earlier. This would guarantee guesting privileges but is completely dependent on how quickly the SC arrive!

Re: Access to EK lounge at Singapore on QF J ticket?

Hopefully, as Jessica Tam posted, you should have entry. Although QF's policy is far from universal... BA doesn't allow business class to guest for example.

If the MH SCs post in time, you may need to ask at the time your boarding pass is issued to refresh the frequent flyer number (remove and add back in), this will ensure the new status is reflected properly for lounge access.

Thanks for the tip, will keep this in mind.

From memory, status credits from MH flights only post once a week, I think it is on Tuesdays.
Unfortunately my last MH flight was too long ago to check in my QFF activity statement.

Argh, earning flight is on a Thursday and lounge access is needed on a Sunday. Bugger.

I just checked using the method suggested by defurax.
I was wrong, they credit on Mondays.
Sadly that doesn't help you.

Re: Access to EK lounge at Singapore on QF J ticket?

Thanks for the clarification. I was in QF land when I posted. Hopefully you will be able to manage to all get into the lounge.

If your transit isn't too long, KLIA is not too bad an airport to while away some time.

Re: Access to EK lounge at Singapore on QF J ticket?

Now for something a little different.

I'll be Qantas WP for another year or so, but am now crediting some of my flights to other OneWorld airlines, eg QR, BA.

So I was wondering if I'd be able to get into a Qantas Club lounge by showing my WP card, while my boarding pass showed, say, a QR FF number?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

In theory this shouldn't be a problem since two different FF program numbers can be entered using the FQTV and FQTS fields. In practice it seems that very few agents can do this...so the lounge dragon might require your QF FF number to be displayed on the BP to grant you access. You simply have to change it again when leaving the lounge or with the gate agent.

You simply have to change it again when leaving the lounge or with the gate agent.

I've also read it is possible to change it yourself using AY MMB, then it's just a matter of getting a BP reprinted so you have proof in case the SCs don't come through.

Thanks for that. It will be interesting to see how I go with this.

Re: Access to EK lounge at Singapore on QF J ticket?

If I remember correctly access to Emirates lounges in North Africa is available to QF Gold, Platinum and Qantas Club.

What's North Africa?

Would it include Ethiopia?

Re: Access to EK lounge at Singapore on QF J ticket?

If I fly Cathay JFK - HKG in J, then Cathay HKG - MEL in Premium Economy, all booked on one ticket using AS miles, will I be allowed to access the J lounges in HKG airport? Thanks

I think you should have access, but according to OneWorld rules both flights are considered to be long haul (more than 5 hours), so if the lounge agent has a literal interpretation of the rules, then I guess there is no access...

Connecting between oneworld marketed and operated flights:
  • First and Business Class customers connecting on the same day of travel, or before 6am the following day, can access the lounge when travelling between an international long haul (a oneworld international long haul flight is defined as an international flight marketed and operated by any oneworld carrier with a scheduled flight time longer than 5 hours) and an international short haul or domestic flight (and vice-versa).
  • Lounge access will be determined on the international long haul ticketed flight (either First of Business Class) regardless of the ticketed class of travel on the international short haul or domestic flight.
  • You must be prepared to show your boarding pass or itinerary showing travel in First or Business class on the international long haul flight, in order to access the lounge before your international short haul or domestic flight.

Re: Access to EK lounge at Singapore on QF J ticket?

Flying Y tomorrow from CDG - DXB - PER with Emirates on a QF codeshare, I'm a recent Qantas Club member (ie never used it before), will myself and 9yo son have access to the lounge in Dubai? I'd love a shower on the way home...if so, are there hairdryers in the showers? Many thanks!
