I think it's obvious that you have to be booked on the QF flight number.... so no they won't count

I disagree. It says "partner airline flights with a QF flight number". Nothing about which flight number you're ticketed to.

And flying JQ you can't buy a QF flight number.

You certainly can buy a fare with QF that has a QF flight number on JQ , it JUST LOOKS WRONG being in Orange

It says before that: "only Status credits earned from flights with a QF flight number".

So it needs to be a QF number. The bit you quote clarifies that codeshare QF flights are ok.

It says earned from flights with a QF flight number. If you earn from a flight on a JQ flight number it is NOT included. Whether QF put's their code on it or not isn't relevant, it apllies to what you have booked.

dazz is correct. The fact that a flight carries a QF flight number means you actually have to be on that QF flight number. You can't get the bonus on a JQ flight number simply because someone else is on a QF number somewhere else on the plane.

Also connecting from SIN to BKK for example, when they'll charge about $140 extra for the QF flight number.

Why are they screwing with the loyalty bonus? Cost to FF for the measly 8,000 points is negligible, the status credit per annum thing has killed off the NBs ever achieving a loyalty bonus (while not the most profitable pax, we were all one of those at some point). I can understand limiting this to QF marketing flights - fair enough, but the other 'enhancements' are quite stupid from a loyalty perspective.

Oh, and you can bet you have to be ticketed on the QF flight number, unlike the other post above suggests.

We at SG and above already have the 'loyalty' rewards with lounge access and other (perhaps constantly eroded) benefits, why not give a tiny incentive to the couple of times a year flyer to keep their (albeit small) dollars with QF? Doesn't affect me, but I feel sorry for the poor old NBs. I remember before even getting silver status I enjoyed a loyalty bonus or two.

I've had 3/4 loyalty bonuses this year myself (now capped, previously unlimited), but to be honest, the 24,000 points is a bit of a drop in the ocean to this 700,000+ points per annum FF. To someone on NB, this could mean they could use it for an upgrade to see how the other half lives, and plant the aspirational seed that we all had when we first joined the programme, spurring a lifelong loyalty to the Red Roo. Oh the nostalgia. Now I get upset when the barista is closed in the JLounge. First world problems.

Just wait, next there'll be 'enhancements' to the lifetime status recognition - based on this, I'd expect that to include only QF marketed, and probably a change of the goalposts. That will anger many no doubt. We'll get 6 (cough - correction) 3 months notice of it though, plenty of time to burn all your points and send them over to the other guys. Lifelong loyalty lost - beware QFF. Not that anyone seems to bother past lifetime SG anyway.

Opportunity yet again lost from the 'most profitable' part of the business.

Every FF 'enhancement' and every flight cut from the MEL schedule is a reason to look closely at other airlines' programmes. As I am LTG and WP benefits are reduced why stay?

I'm surprised QF haven't noticed a huge loyalty issue with Silver FF's. There's a huge gap between 250 SC and 700 SC. When you find yourself in that gap (I'm earning around 450SC/year) there's no real incentive to care about flying QF or even deciding to credit to AA.

thanks but i'll wait for QF to confirm it or someone to actually experience it. it's just as likely to be a mistake in the T&Cs.

QF have already confirmed, you are interpreting it differently because it is what you want to hear.

Without wanting to sound rude or direct - but I'm not sure how it could be any "clearer"..??..??

It is incredibly deliberate wording - both in the T&Cs and also the email marketing.

QF Code Only is exactly what it is - in all other T&Cs where JQ is included it is explicitly labelled as such (eg QF, JQ, 3K etc).

And a flight where a QF-Codeshare is possible is NEVER a substitute for policies relating to QF codes (eg. take an AA flight with an AA code - and AA # policies apply. Take the same flight booked as QF Code and QF # policies apply.) Just because the same physical flight has a "related QF Code" has never provided "QF Code" benefits/policies unless actually booked as such.

Suggesting this is a typo is ridiculous IMHO given the painstaking way QF !@#$~~~~~~@@ everything else in their daily life.

DISCLAIMER: Unless in fact QF "meant" to include JQ, but the latest Grad Program Employee stuffed up - which is entirely possible and plausible.

But the T&Cs and wording are very deliberative and I would be incredibly surprised if it's anything else.

RED ROO could of course simply confirm or deny and then we will all know fact from fiction..??

I'm in this gap - and yes, it is a huge step upwards again; even retaining is going to be more difficult if you spend a lot of time flying around Asia/SE Asia; might have to swallow the extra $140 to fly a couple of useless J* flights to retain, or try to find a rewards program that is interested in keeping their loyal FFs loyalty. (Does that actually make sense??)

...it is not that long ago that the SC requirements were reduced from 350 qual/300 retain to 300 qual/250 retain.

Take the good with the bad - if you're not going to get something higher because of the requirement, at least you have a lower limit to get to before you can look elsewhere. (if indeed you like to look elsewhere)

from my point of view this change makes sense, it is a QF loyalty bonus, not a OW bonus. My view might be like this because of my next 1200SCs that are booked and paid for only 40 are not on a QF flight number but still, the SCs earned on other OW carriers still give you a OW status and higher points earnbut no bonus in the QFF program because they were not earned on QF...

just my 2 cents

Hi,

I checked the threads and couldn't find any mention of this, so here goes...

Yesterday I received my printed statement and I noticed for the first time since becoming LTG last year that my lifetime status credits have returned. Once I hit 14000 last year, the overall number disappeared, but it's now back, at 14,375. I also note that this lifetime level is not recorded online, only on the printed statement.

Forgive me if this is old news, but if it's not then the conspiracy theorist in me thinks that something might be planned to reward those with more than 14,000 lifetime status credits.

Sorry to disappoint, but it is old news. They only show the lifetime tally on printed statements, not online.
