Lunch with Lesley

There is a high proportion of both FIFO's and business who travel long distance and often in and out of PER and hence get a greater average SC per flight than those travelling mainly on the east cost.

Hi Serfty yes I would agree with this but we also pay for those extra long flights & additionals SCs for less overall reward versus our Eastern States counterparts.

So where will lunch be now after the kitchen fire that damaged Rockpool last night. Dinners and staff evacuated. Good news is no one injured or hurt.

Any more news on how much damage?
I read that they were working late to restore power to preserve the stock . I wonder just how bad it is ?

Happy meals at Maccas Alexandria for everyone!!! - They can rent out the birthday room and away we go! NPCB here we come*

*Neil Perry Cheese Burgers

In all seriousness, thats the way the luck is rolling for QF at the minute :( cant pull a trick. I'd suggest Rockpool MEL is now the way to go :)

They could go over to Glass at the Hilton I am sure celebrity chefs would help each other out. Lol

The overall reward is not really relevant to the proportion of WP's inhabiting the PER lounges.

50 disc economy flights MEL/SYD earned 500 SC's; 50 disc economy flights PER/SYD earned 1000sc's.

Given Rockpools fire I wonder of the daily special will be CHAR Grilled steak lol Seriously good to see no one hurt or killed and hope that Rockpool recovers quickly

I can't believe some people are so negative about attending this lunch.
I wonder if they will also decline a visit to the F lounge or refuse to get a free upgrade on their next QF flight because it may impair the ability to criticise Qantas...
Hypocrisy anyone???

Whilst I am negative about it it is only because in my opinion nothing will change. QF have seen and heard enough feed back both here and in the general media to understand that it has not gone down well. It doesn't require a meal to understand the feelings and potential impact of these changes.

Surely if QF was so desperate for money then this sort of unnecessary expenditure (IMHO)should be curtailed.

I do hope that those that attend have a good day and enjoy the meal

I've been sitting on the sidelines for most of the posts pretty much shaking my head at the sheer negativity that’s gone on here.

I certainly consider myself a fan of QF, but I don’t consider myself a shill by any stretch of the imagination. If I am invited (and I certainly have my fingers crossed) I will be asking the questions which are on my mind, and take great interest in the answers, knowing full well that I may or may not like them.

At the previous lunch I was lucky enough to attend, I asked the direct question about mASA's no longer been bookable online, certainly a contentious issue at the time, and the answer that I was given was certainly not one that I liked, but from a business point of view made perfect sense.

One can always argue “why is it a select few, why not rent a large hall”, well I've certainly filled in survey forms when they have come in, I've sent in both good and bad feedback as appropriate, and whilst in each case I've received a response, there is nothing quite like talking one on one with someone high up in the tree, and you only really get that at events like this, even large hall type events tend to be dominated by a select few.

Furthermore I’d imagine an event like this is the perfect opportunity for QF to really gauge the feelings among those who actually use their services (probably a good part of the reason that the QFF number needed to be included). Even feedback on an online forum such as this needs to be taken with a grain of salt, since there is no verification that you are who you say you are, and that you do what you say you do.

So I for one would love the opportunity to attend this event, and I’d hope that QF will continue to arrange events like this one in the future.

Fire in a Commercial Kitchen is never going to be a good - once an exhaust hood ducting lights up (internal grease / fats etc ) your going to be looking at some considerable down time. A black cat must of crossed QFF's path...

Question when the 'lunch n learn' get sorted - Is Qantas looking to exit OW - in the short / medium terms (18 month outlook tops)

I don't think every meeting with customers means something has to change. I wouldn't go to something like this expecting the old SC-tables to come back and MASA's to remain. But perhaps some tweaking, perhaps I'll change my thinking instead of them changing theirs?

I would have thought that'd be commercial in confidence, because of the impact it would play by pre-announcing anything, but personally would hope they don't have any plans to go stuffing with a great alliance. That said, who knows how much benefit they actually get out of it... only they know what their bookings look like from other OW partners.
