Lunch with Lesley

It would be nice to hear something back, in the highly unlikely event that I'm picked I'm going to need a little bit of time to plead with the boss (both of them) to let me have Tuesday off. Not an impossible task, but certainly the closer things get, the harder it will be...

(Yes I know, patience is a virtue)

without trawling through the posts, With regard to the Rockpool fire, has there been any update on the time and venue?

Took just over a week to pick the winners this time last year... but then they also had a 2 week wait between competition end and the lunch, which isn't available here.

I'm guessing the fact they've got to find an alternate venue and pick some winners is causing a slow down, but would expect PM's or an announcement sometime today or tomorrow. I recall once sitting at BNE drinks in the PM when certain members received acceptance PM's... so this doesn't have to happen during usual office hours.

Spice temple is open so all hope it not lost, it will be at least Monday before Rockpool Bar and Grill opens and the ceilings on the first floor appear to have the most damage.

Thanks for the record amount of entries received. All great questions, and some that I'm keen to learn the answers to myself. ;)

Apologies for the unusual delay in updating you. As has been suggested, we've had an adhoc change in venue. The lunch will now be held at Gowings Bar & Grill (Sydney), and the winners will be notified later today.

For the benefit of the many new AFF members that entered, and for some of you that queried the competition mechanics, I'd like to clarify the purpose of the event and posing questions as a form of entry.

This bespoke opportunity has been extended exclusively to AFF members. The winners will be representing AFF, as much as Red Roo is an advocate for AFF within Qantas. We're keen to address the most common questions and concerns of the group, and ensure the right subject matter experts are available on the day to encourage robust discussions. It is also for those not at the lunch to have some of their queries addressed. Frequent Flyer status is never an issue and doesn't influence the decisions made in picking the successful entries.

We're always accessible and available to accept constructive criticism, feedback and general queries though our various customer support channels
, however this event is another way for us to reach out to our most engaged members in a meaningful way.

I look forward to putting faces to avatars on Tuesday.

Nicely done Red Roo - having your venue "blow up" just days out from the event will have certainly given lots in Loyalty a deal of consternation over the past few days and I'm pleased QF could find a sizeable (and similar) venue at short notice.

I'm looking forward to hearing the reviews of the meal, venue and discussions. Good luck everybody and for those that win and haven't been to one previously, you are in for quite an experience ;) [Yes, I'll be a little jealous]

You'll be a shoe in if you haven't been critical of this event or Qantas loyalty. ;)

Never been critical of this event... I think that it's a great opportunity to hear from QFF and also to give feedback about my experiences (which have 99% been positive), and ask the right questions (or at least the ones that RedRoo thinks are the right ones :-)

My (very Scottish) father once said words to the effect of "never pass up the opportunity for a free lunch, and when it is free make sure you pay for what you get through being thoughtful, thankful and helpful."

(My bolding)

Now that's something I didn't realize ... the attendees (and best of luck to them) are representing AFF are they? I would have thought representatives of AFF should be chosen by AFF, but then that's just my old-fashioned-ness coming through again, not to mention other undesirable qualities (reaches for the smiley button, but decides against it).

So, representatives (Edit: once you are selected by Qantas that is), you are in it for all of us now. What's our policy on stuff?

Seriously, RooFlyer?

RooFlyer, in a way they are representing themselves, as well as Qantas (as a guest at the lunch at a third party supplier Gowings Bar & Grill) and AFF - (as all invitees to the lunch are from only AFF).

I'm sure everybody will be mindful of their responsibilities...

That may not have come out right. I was endorsing you for this event. ;)

Oh and make sure you are invited by Red Roo of Qantas and not Redroo of Russia! :p
