Lunch with Lesley

To be fair, I'm sure other programs such as Cathay Pacific's Marco Polo Club offer meet and greets with executives to address issues... though at least with CX I'm sure they're only offering them to Diamond members :p

Qantas is offering this to AFF members, of any status level.

Look forward to hearing the results of a rigourous discussion. Who knows I might even be tempted to become a QF FF. Mindful of marketing and contraints from above.
Do hope it proves worthwhile to all partipants and hopefully to loyal QF travellers seeing it is a billion dollar part of QF business. JoyV

I haven't read through all the posts on all 11 pages so apologies if this has been asked and answered.

I can not attend either due to that filthy 4 letter word (work!!) but had this thought.

Once selected are the 3 questions you submit all you can ask or can you add further questions on the day? The reason I ask is because if those who can't attend for whatever reason have any hard hitting questions they want answered, then they could PM one of those who are attending to have them answered.

I for one would also like to see some sort of report or downloadable video of the session to review at my leisure with a couple of glasses of scotch.

It's not a dictatorship. ;) It's a pretty open forum - in the past we've asked away, whatever questions we like, on a whole range of topics. :)

Although not going I really have 2 questions.
1.Why were the changes to your Frequent Flyer program announced before the details were worked out.
2.When will we be able to access the Qantas website and find a fair and simple table of points earnings and SC earnings that does not have mistakes and ambiguities.

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

So should it be viewed as an exclusive event, where attendees can be coddled and fussed over, with private chats and exclusive insights? Attendees will be made to feel really special, I bet.

Is it, I don't know, maybe 20 exclusive invitees who will attend? And no leakage of the exclusive insights passed on to the hoi polloi? Presumably they will have their noses pressed up against the window, maybe thrown a crumb or two, or told to eat cake?

Jeepers. If its that sort of crowd, I don't think I could keep my lunch down with the exclusive mutual admiration going on.

"What happens in Rockpool stays in Rockpool". Red Roo, tell us it ain't so :)

I'm not an "exclusive" type, and I suspect the broad spectrum of AFF's will be representative of QF's p
Client base. Albeit a little more savvy. Perhaps this is why AFF members make such good sounding boards ?

Qantas loyalty is quite happy to answer any questions they are able to answer.

Usually someone posts a summary in the relevant thread that is created for the event. I believe there were also updates on twitter for one of the events last year.

Yes that's entirely correct. Based on experience of the previous Rockpool events, only those privileged few who read AFF or twitter or have access to youtube will be able to learn of the exclusive insights. The hoi polloi are completely excluded. /End sarcasm.

Have the guts to put in an application to go rather than jeering from the sidelines.

Oh, dear. Maybe I should have used "[/End sarcasm]" as well. :)

As for jeering from the sidelines - that's a fair observation, but I don't think it goes amiss when there is so much fawning going on as soon as a lunch at Rockpool is mentioned. ;) I've given my own specific reason why I won't be applying.

Still interested in hearing how much the hoi polloi will hear about the information exchanged; ideally as recounting by QF or an audio file, rather than trying to post the menu and wine list which was one effort posted after a past event?

Sent my PM to Red Roo. Let's see what happens. I'm keen to ask some very direct questions :).

As I cannot be in Syd anytime soon due to work commitments, I hope someone that does go can ask some questions on my/AFF behalf?

1. Why aren't you working towards codeshares with Cathay Pacific and/or Malaysia Airlines? you should also codeshare with them on their main routes to give customers more choice of timings in addition to your own flights.

2. For the routes where you have a codeshare with a non-Oneworld airline eg. Jet Airways Singapore - India, Hong Kong - India, unless you are flying in business you don't get any status benefits what so ever. Hence why people of status choose to fly OW flights on these routes, a) either benefits like lounge access, priority checkin.etc need to be negotiated with the operating carrier OR b) this just reinforces the need to codeshare with another OW airline in Asia.

Hopefully someone can ask these or maybe can RedRoo ask these on the day? I am sure they are similar to thoughts of some other members on here.

Troppo,

See my post earlier in the thread.

Yes - they are an opportunity for QF to give us their spin on things.

But it's also an opportunity for us to challenge them on things that may be uncomfortable for them.

QF haven't hesitated to address those issues and they tend to answer very candidly - even if we don't like the answers, they have been very illuminating.

I don't shy away from quite pointed criticism of QF Loyalty on a few perspectives, but I still get invited and they still take my questions.

(I wouldn't if I were them).

So credit where it's due. I think they do a good job in this regard. We should encourage them to continue to engage with us.

Agree 100% with this. I've been lucky enough to get an invite in the past (also I've just submitted my Q's so fingers crossed) and whilst they obviously answer the easier questions which everyone will like the answer, they also answered the difficult questions with answers that won't please the room.

The sessions are pretty informal, and whilst there has been video taken from past events, it's as much about the event itself and meeting /talking with some of QF's behind the scenes people as it's about getting answers.

Thanks to all those that have entered so far.

All great questions, the answers to which I know will be met with equal amounts of candour and humour.

It's great to see some new Avatars in my inbox. For those who aren't Qantas Frequent Flyer members, don't let this stop you (Free Join).

You never know your luck, you may even get to meet a Red Roo. ;)

:):)Been on Indian pacific and little interNet. Will be flying broome-briz Vegas that day. Sounds like a great opportunity. Love Rockpool.

Would love to take up the offer to enter, but duty calls and I will travelling on the day. Come to think of it, if the event is at 11:50 am on 8 April, I will be airborne somewhere over Albury heading north on QF1528 so feel free to spread some of the Rockpool love to pax on this flight ... imagine... oysters on a 717 :)

Maybe Loyalty should make three interesting questions to ask the group :D (of course, we will discriminate whether they are interesting questions or not, and we don't tend to sugar coat either).

Anyway, your post is a reminder for me to get my skates on and send those questions.
