Re: The party is over

When I got the next year fee free, she mentioned something about extra points in cafes, or restaurants. I haven't heard of the change in writing as yet.

Seems a classic case of be careful what you ask for to me. When it was with HSBC, it was a cheap and cheerful card with a good points earn. But some folk around here went it's not a platinum card, it doesn't have this, it doesn't have that. Well, now you're getting this and your getting that. But you've also discovered that this and that has a price tag.....

Getting what? - anecdotes about promises ... ?

... if I was not able to have a fee waived I would not be possessing this card any more.

(not that I have had any complaints ...)

This is now posted on AusBT too: Frequent flyer points slashed on Woolworths Qantas Platinum Visa card - Australian Business Traveller.

Glad I binned mine before MacQuarie took over.

Whooooah........ Did you read the paragraph about when thee point reduction commences....." likely to be February for THE MARCH ISSUED STATEMENT...".........has anyone clarified this ? Mine was 22nd March and I assumed that the reduction would start then but reading the BT article it might actually be the commencement of the billing cycle which for me will be 23rd February . They wouldn't be that sneaky would they....? would they ???

What is Suncorp's attitude to ATO payments ??

That's exactly what I noticed! I still haven't had notification on my statements which are issued on the 15th. I called last week to confirm timing and was told that the reduction would start after (for me) the 15th March. Now I'm not sure what to believe.

Re: The party is over

I have just zeroed this account tonight to be certain I am in time for the points earn. So all transactions needed to be done are done and the account balance is nil.

Re: The party is over

I bailed out as soon as I heard that macquarie were taking over from HSBC and saw the annual fee increase, will be following this development with interest though, especially when the points capping actually occurrs.

Well now to get family members onto Citibank SIG card post March....... Mind you smaller bills these days!

Just called to cancel additional cardholder (already have primary card waiver). MAC claim that that points reduction will start after my statement on 15 march is issued. Will squash in another month of payments for Joe Hockey.

Re: The party is over

Other than through here and Ausbt, I haven't received any notification from the actual financial institution about any of the changes to annual fee or points earn etc ( other than the changeover... Was the annual fee increase hidden in that detail...?)

Shouldn't I be receiving some sort of notification about these changes from the bank?

The change to the annual fee and the introduction of the supplementary card fee was contained in the blitz of documentation sent at the changeover. The change to the points earning started to be notified to people on their monthly statements about two weeks ago.
