Macquarie Bank takes over from HSBC

I don't mind keeping my card until my anniversary date, but I probably won't renew it. I don't think I've been putting 2500 through it anyway really, I manage to put most of my $$ through on the nab amex, this is just for any leftovers that attract high amex surcharges or dont accept amex.

Went out with a bang today, my latest points statement was a very good one including a rather large ATO payment all tallied correctly.

So it's bye bye to the card, thanks for the good times and the memories!

would you say it is still safe to make ato payments if you have the old EDR WOW cc?

Once your Feb statement is in I think the party is over

My Feb Statement has the reduced earn from the March statement period written at the bottom
I have an original card from when they were first released

thanks princess fiona. i am yet to receive my statement on around 18th feb.
just made a few large payments recently since its all coming to an end for wow edr card.

i logged on online, and my pending transactions are no longer showing (were showing yesterday but not today), and the transactions are only showing up until 8 Feb... my balance available is also $0. is yours similar when you log in online?

Exactly my interpretation as well. My Feb statement became available online today with the reduced earn comment effective the March statement. Very luckily my last ATO payment (paid on Sat) posted yesterday, and just made it to the Feb statement, otherwise i would not have been very happy...

Very lucky. I was going to ask these clowns for a partial refund of my Annual Fee paid in Dec but I don't think I'll waste my time on the poor call centre staff. I'm sure they will have a few very irate customers once those March statements start rolling in

I think I'll pre-estimate the business BAS/PAYG and pre-pay it now. Might as well go out with a bang.

I got my annual fee refund, so that was something.

I actually quite miffed that the issuer has failed to police the manipulation of the card by a fairly small but vocal minority.
They have , in the process of this disfunction , probably alienated and lost a much larger group of customers who just use the card for everyday shopping with an occasional high value purchase as a bonus.

I have no issue with the manipulators and would do the same if I paid tax , but you folks have killed the goose stone dead and are now stamping noisily on the carcass , scanning the middle distance in search of another opportunity.

If you think the only reason they have capped the points is because of the ATO spend you are living in fantasy land.

Hey - blame the victim.:(

I don't think we can assume that is the case. This change-for-the-worse occurred almost contemporaneously with the swap from HSBC to Macquarie and from Mastercard to Visa. It might be as simple that Woolworths has lost interest the product and is looking to get out. It might that Qantas has increased the cost of purchasing points.

And there are precedents. Recall how American Express emasculated its rewards scheme a couple of years ago (or was it more), losing lots of customers, me included. Amex's downgraded scheme was a worse outcome than the new Woolworths plan as you still had high surcharging and greatly limited acceptance with Amex (mine was a $250/yr platinum card).

Fair comment Walter… , the cost of over users should be a part of their calcs , so maybe my argument is incorrect.. maybe ….
Although it is not yet showing in their share price , I have a very good industry player in middle of the game, who assures me that Masters will be toast.. when is moot.
This is gonna shoot a massive hole in Woolies street cred …...and the share value….

That is a very bold statement to make with absolutely nothing other than hearsay to back it up.....

PS I'm not a Woolies shareholder :).

So who told me and what are his quals to do so .. as otherwise your comment has no foundation.

PS I'm a woolies shareholder… :-)

Was that "payment" or "Statement".

My end of month was last week and at the very end of the downloaded .pdf statement it had the text.
Actually at the top of an otherwise blank page #3:

It's getting off-topic but the issue with Masters is far from hearsay. It's been reported at length in the financial pages over the past couple of years. It would not surprise me Masters shut down.
