I shan't be activating mine ;)

Luckily I only have about 5 auto payments coming off this card so should be easy to tidy up. Goodbye 5 year cardholder relationship!

I wouldn't count on them still charging the auto renew though. But I'm in the same boat.

My statement came through with the same paragraph... I have had a fee waiver, but will cancel the card as soon as I source a replacement.

Yes, me too. Perhaps we could have an appropriately named thread as it's a bit urgent now.

The thread exists and is about the Qantas Credit Union VISA Platinum card. Apparently they are swamped with AFFers opening accounts.

I'm up and running with my QCU card: 1 QFF point per dollar uncapped. The card is $195 a year, second card no fee. It's about the average cost these days - no cheap cards around these days. Oh...and a 30,000 point sign-on bonus.

Nice people, good service, and decent website. Banking done through Westpac and subsidiaries or Australia Post.

I'm interested to know why this card when the BankMECU has the same features for $10 less?

OK so here is the latest update from my experience.

Today I received my latest statement with the dreaded paragraph about the new earn rates.

So I rang up to complain and spoke to Joan about my specific situation and the new earn rate doesn't kick in exactly at the next statement.

So in my case my next CC Statement cycle ends 11/03/2015. Joan told me that I will still earn 1pt/$1 until and including 11/03/2015.

On 12/03/2015 the new reduced earn rate kicks in.

I have taken down details of my conversation with Joan if and when I have to have a debate with someone about missing points in the future but as far as I'm concerned, I'm still going to make my last ATO payments with this card until 11/03/2015 and then make another phone call to cancel this card.

Hope that this helps others out too.

So long EDR CC, it was fun whilst it lasted.

I had a phone call advising me that my Qantas Credit Union CC had been approved with the same limit as I have on the Woolies EDRCC.

I had a phone call from BankMECU telling me that without my 2013-14 notice of assessment (not due to be lodged until May) they won't be able to offer me a card. This is despite having an income well into the 6 figures. And if it's in May I have to apply from scratch. Go figure.

Now deciding whether the bringing the tax bill forward will be worth it for a new card... I suppose I'll have something to use it on ;)

If you're lodging in May then you are using a tax agent. The due date for payment remains the same whether you lodge now or in May. It's the same as a self lodger has to pay by November 21 whether they lodge in July or November.

Yes but my instalments are going up due to a very good year, as soon as I lodge my quarterly instalments will double! Looking at waiting it out until mid March at least to avoid Q3 instalment rocketing.

I had the same problem with Citibank. I gave Citibank away as a bad joke.

I got around it next application by arranging for a letter confirming my total income and producing bank statements showing it going into my account. This was sufficient. Tax return not asked for.

Providing the accountants phone number always works ... however, her fee for service can sometimes be excessive ;)

This wasn't my tax accountant - he answered Citibank's queries and was just as much a hindrance as a help. The letter was from a fellow director on company letterhead. Plus I dressed neatly and handed it over personally at a branch.

I passed on the details for my *legitimate* accountant ;) but they weren't interested. I suppose credit unions still operate like its 1980.

My statement issued yesterday had the notice in it finally. So i have til about mid march at the old level. They'll get one last big transaction from me as a parting gift then ill pay it off and close it.
