Macquarie Bank takes over from HSBC

Rang to cancel - was offered a fee waiver. When I declined, the customer service rep didn't offer any resistance.

Will keep the physical card as it has my EDR bar code on it, but happy to move on to another credit provider.

There's been an adverse change in the 'Your Credit Card' menu in the past couple of days. It's no longer possible to do a Bpay payment from the website. I'd say this is to clear up in-transit Bpays and prevent new ones prior to the cutover to Macquarie's system in two days.

Update: Can't make payments either. Biller code has been cancelled.

Anyone received their password in the snale mail yet? Know a good psychic that can help me guess mine? There's not a forgot/reset password option on the new site.

Yes, been trying to call. Twice, have waited on hold for some time only to be cut off once it starts to ring through.

That happened four times to me. Eventually I pressed the number for reporting the card stolen and got to speak with a person.

Finally got through and obtained a temp password. Still trying to find my missing 14,000 points from last statement though. Mac claim it is a known issue where as HSBC claimed that the points had been disbursed and there was nothing more they could do.

I received my new password yesterday along with a new telephone pin. Fortunately it's easy to change them both without operator assistance.

Just tried to ring and cancel as well, not looking for a fee waiver, got put on hold and then hung up on me! Maybe they are busy at the moment?

Will retry and report back.

Mission complete. My new $139 fee was going to hit in early December, but I decided to be safe and settle the account and cancel early just in case anything went weird as I would hate to have to get the fees reversed and coudn't be coughd going through a new online registration password process when I was leaving anyway.

They did not try to waive fee when I explained there were better deals out there. Card cancelled. One dead Macquarie product to the collection, although like jukebox333 , I may keep the card just for the Woolworths EDR number thats printed on the back.

Off to the AFF threads to see good low fee or 0$ fee Visa/Mastercard cards that are out there......:D

I will cancel mine next year, as HSBC waived current year's annual fee for me. Credit card market has never been so competitive, there are indeed lots of good deals around.

Does anyone have experience in requesting a product transfer between Macquarie cards? I'm wondering if it would be possible to convert the now bad value WW product to a Macquarie HHonors card, and if so whether I could without needing to do a new application.

In parallel with this topic, I just had a fairly extensive online survey from Woolworths, that revolved around a new home loan provider and what would entice me to churn my existing loan. When it tailored a package of enhancements by whittling down my preferences, and I still clicked "I would not consider this product" it asked why. (A = "Macbank? No thanks") So it seems MacBank and Woolies are going to pursue a lot more than just credit card customers.

Please let us all know if your research finds a suitable replacement card.

Just checked my bank account and found that even though I paid off my October balance 16/10 a direct debit for the same amount was taken out yesterday. After spending over an hour on the phone it will be paid back hopefully today but it could take up to 5 business days. They could not give me a reason why this occurred.

When I spoke to my bank was told that I was not the first person this has happened to.

Same here. I got a fee waiver though so this will just cover me until I have used up the extra payment (card kept for another year).

It would seem that there are a few migration problems based around 16 October. See my new thread about no points being issued for statements on the 16th.

Rang and tried for a fee waiver and no go. Reason given was change of bank. They did offer 1000 points but the card still goes. Poor form.

Macquarie debited my bank account twice for my October payment... Rang on Wednesday and said I was considering cancelling my card due to the stuffup....they offered me a free balance transfer or no interest for 6 months.... I told them that was of no use as I always repay my monthly balance in full. Anyway had to email a copy of my bank statement showing the duplicate payment so I cheekily added a note that I was disappointed with Macquarie and asked for a fee waiver to give me a chance to see if their service is as good as they originally promised..

Got my refund the next day but still waiting on their response to my request for a fee waiver...No dramas if I do cancel as my renewal is not due until December and I have several other cards including a 'no fee' Signature as a fallback. On the bright side, it gives me an excuse to sign up for another card with bonus points!
