Macquarie Bank takes over from HSBC

Statement for the month has been generated - and no fee waiver. :(

It will be interesting to see if MAC have a record of you being told that the fee would be waived. I called and asked for the fee to be waived and the best I could do was get a bonus 2,000 points.

Existing customers - try doing a balance transfer

Not a bad rate for existing at all wondering if they can't differentiate vs new at the moment.

A timely reminder to get a reference number for the phone call and make a diary entry of time and person spoken to for all these sort of phone calls.

This sort of thread reminds me why I cancelled mine as soon as I found out that Macquarie were taking over from HSBC.

Just because a phone operator tells you your annual fee will be waived, does not neccessarliy mean that your annual fee will actually be waived......

No fee waiver for me, offer of balance transfer at 1.99%, no thanks, closed.

Just on line looking at my account to check on the QF points earned, but can't find it. I thought it might be under transaction history.

EDIT: Just called them up and after telling me over and over again that October's points would credit on 15 November, and me questioning that over and over why I have to wait nearly 5 weeks for the points, she suddenly noticed that she could not actually see any points to be credited on my > $10,000 spend Now I have requested a call back on Monday after they have sorted it out. Geez, this is all I need after the frustrating time with the ANZ One Path debacle posted in that thread.

I may have gotten your points. That's all I'm going to say.
No login details yet though.

Just cancelled the card.
Was shuffled between 2 departments.
I clearly advised them the annual fee increase was on the high side but the supplementary fee was the killer.
They would not waive it. They offered 1k QF points to not cancel.
I said no-thanks.

Admittedly we only put through about $250k - $300k a year on the card (no ATO) so I appreciate we would be small fry to them.

Charging for a supplementary card ... are they serious ?
I only put about 10% on the card whilst SWMBO puts the balance on it.

The annual fee has been charged to my card. I didn't call up and ask for a waiver so can't complain.
For various reasons this card is a keeper for me just now. In the middle of trying to extricate myself from WBC so a nice easy 1 point per dollar card is good to have.

Card was to me always handy for one purpose and have always allowed my monthly low 5 figure transaction to go through.
With the higher annual fee and the waiver seemingly gone, earlier this month trebled the monthly allocation with no mishaps. Did though keep each payment under the $15K made over a week.
Card renewal is in April and took the opportunity last night to cancel the supplementary card as never been needed for everyday spend.

I'm interested in the uses for this card. I knew of one which was recently switched off when a certain company stopped accepting payments via credit card using Bpay. If it's suspect then can someone please PM me what the use is

It's a credit card. Just like any other but with a better points earn.

As to your second sentence...come again?

This remains a great card as it earns a point per dollar to QF. It is a personal card and it really suits me earning some QFF points. I was surprised at folks saying they were cancelling but that is not me. Our family has three of them.

I was wondering what the one purpose was in this quote more specifically

If there is a cheaper card with QF 1 point per $ then I would also cancel. Reconsidering QF earning and with citibank signature fee free for life why would I keep this card. Could also opt into citibank QF rewards for $49 a year total. But then is dealing with Citibank better or worse than dealing with Macbank?

We have a Citi QF card and the Woolies EDRCC for QF points. It is a his and hers thingy.

I would have thought that earning Asia Miles through Citi would be more profitable than QF as the chart is a lot better and it's all the same flights anyway (unless booking 12 months out)

I have a Citi that does that so I use AA/BA, VA,QF and Kris for places I want to see. Sure there are more opportunities but QF on this thread works great.
I think this card has created some great trips on domestic runs.

One positive of this change. Macquarie's interpretation of Qantas seems to be more liberal than others ;)
