Macquarie Bank takes over from HSBC

I will be retiring this card as soon as a points cap is notified to me. Since I've also paid the annual card fee a month ago I will require a pro-rata refund of that.

Only interested in a reasonable value uncapped 1 pp $ MC/Visa. I can live without points on ATO or BPay, time to shop around.

Agreed. If the cap is applied to all, this will go from one of the best cards to one of the worst! Some much for the letter that told us there would be "exciting improvements".

No 100% sure on that, it applies to me but I've only had the card a couple of weeks. Wouldn't hurt to call and check, so much for the capping remaining unchanged like I read in a few articles.

Given that the terms havent been updated on the website, I would think you would be able to cancel with a complete refund. Then again, we've all had fun dealing with Macquarie of late.

I rec'd more than 2500 points:

I just don't want to have to apply for another credit card and get another enquiry on my credit file. At least the annual fee was only $99 for the 1st year. I was hoping to get an additional card on my partner's HSBC Qantas Platinum card account but that has turned out to be a painful process which was why ended up applying for this card in the first place.

Yes, same here. New cards are capped, old ones will follow.

Not sure about ATO, I don't have ATO payments so this does not apply to me. The HSBC card appeals more so to me because of the 2 points per dollar on overseas transactions as we purchase a lot of things online with international retailers

Capping

Not Happy Jan

So agree best to worst if they touch the old cards.....

I did get the full point per dollar on everything including Woolies gift cards in my statement period to 12/12/2014.

I only noticed this last week. It probably hasn't applied to existing card holder's as yet, if it is going to affect existing card holders than I think you January statement will be the test. You may be in luck and might just apply to new card holders.

I would like to be a lucky doer as this card works well and the statement is now very easy to read.

Apologies if this has already been posted but learned today that 0.5 points per dollar after $2,500 spend for all existing cardholders from March 2015.

Shame, I liked this card.

I'd sent an email a few days ago asking about future points per dollar and they called me today and that's what they said.

Today I have been working on fiscal fiend paperwork and even though it will be payable in early March I believe I can pay in late February.

Thanks for the info, I'll be saying goodbye to this card from then.

Time to look elsewhere

Thanks for the notification Sandy. I'm not sure why Macquaire would pay good money for something that they intend to destroy.

I started my exit from them today and removed all my direct debts from this card....to my surprise, Energy Australia now accepts Amex :)

That and the ridiculous annual fee and additional card holder price hike.

Say hello to the ANZ Platinum with $0 annual fee and 25,000 points. :)
