Macquarie Bank takes over from HSBC

I made the final call to cancel my account today, and Woolies Money upped their offer to a waiver of my next annual fee + 2,000 points. As pointed out in this thread, I would still be up for the $29 supplementary card fee for my next membership year, so I don't see the 2,000 points as good value.

Farewell Woolies Money/Macquarie.

I got a call today from Woolies Money - was asked why I hadn't activated the new card, to which I simply responded "points capping". The rep offered to waive my next annual fee if I activated, but I politely declined (I've already changed all my direct debits over to my new HSBC Qantas Platinum Visa and can't be bothered with multiple cards).

Despite not activating the new card, my card account remains active so annoyingly I'll have to call to cancel once I've paid off the balance on my April bill (due in a few weeks). Interestingly, the rep couldn't tell me if should use the old (Master Card) or new (Visa) card number to BPay off my final balance, and said I would need to speak to customer service to get an answer - didn't waste my time and I'll just use the new card number to avoid any delays/late fees/interest.

They let my wife go without any real attempt to retain, fortunately we are totally OK with that!

I am still waiting for April's points to post and the promised 2000 bonus points before I cancel. Normally, points post to QFF account on 16th of each month. Nothing yet for April statement that I expected should post on 16th May. Has anyone receive the bonus points yet?

I received my 2000 points.

I received my 5,000 points.

I think I gave them almost $2,500 of stuff like rates and taxes on my new fee free Visa. It says my auto pay still works so if that is correct I think I can get almost 30,000 QF points this year without raising a sweat.

I received my 5,000 points.

Hmm, no points here yet
Checking back on my activity statement, my points have posted on 16th or 17th of the month for as long as I can easily check back, except for February this year when they posted on 24th of the month. So I'll give it until early next week. I don't want to call because I will end up really frustrated and tell them to cancel the card, and I want to know the points have all been paid before I cancel! I am expecting about 5500 points including the promised 2000 bonus points.

I agree something is wrong with the transfer of points this month. Statement period finished on 15th and points normally post within 48hrs. It is now the 21st and no points have posted. Statement show the points earn for the month so now it is a wait and see however I am not that good at waiting so if nothing posted by Friday I might pick up the phone and interact with them.

Called to cancel other day, they offered to waive the fee but told them no thanks since the points cap made the card useless even if it was fee free and to make sure they passed that feedback up the chain.... Thanks for the points over the years WOW.

My free year renewal together with a $2500 a month ATO keeps a smile on my face. Sure it is a little bit of a large bit but 2500 points is easy pickings.

Annual fee waived.
Keeping the card, will just manage it with ANZ card, for points maximum.
