Thanks Dr Ralph. Tempting but I might keep the powder dry with Macquarie while I wait for the next offering of their Hilton card (and insya allah without an annual fee). Automatic Honors Gold and a one-night stay voucher means more to me than 40,000 QF points.
Is there normally an exclusion period for a Hilton offering?

No there isn't. But I've been rejected for the Hilton card before despite meeting all the conditions so I don't want to cruel my chances with Macquarie by churning the Black card, especially when there are other offers going on.

Is there a Hilton offering you suspect might be coming other than the standard application?

I have no intel suggesting such but it has been offered annually in the past, sometimes biannually, so I'm patiently waiting for the next promotion (whenever it may be).

To check with those who have had this before, points are ok on paying rates etc for govt spend? But not for ATO? Thanks

Do they also issue bonus points with the Hilton offers? Or is just the free night certificates as per the credit card landing page?

Either way, with an offer of no annual fee, there's a cheap way to get Diamond status if you know you'll be using a few Hilton's in the subsequent year.

The free night certificate is usually the only carrot when the card has been offered with the reduced annual fee, however, I recall an offer of 40,000 Honors points plus the free night several years back when the annual fee applied.

I would prefer the card sans fee but would also entertain the latter option at a stretch (noting I value an honor point at .5c).

Decided to get back on for another go at this card. Approval took 2 days. Hope the card arrives soon. Keen to churn and burn.

I'd probably go with the Platinum myself rather than the Black. Even though the regular points earn is lower with the Platinum I like having less credit. If the Black offered more sign up bonus points for the same annual fee that would be a different matter.

i applied for this card, was told to call them, they asked about my other credit cards. i have not heard from them since then and am pretty sure that my application has been rejected.

Do they reject people for having too many cards? (i have a good salary and have never missed payments).

I have 2 other cards currently and apply for at least 6 each year.

Application was successful. Took 2 days to be notified though.
