Macquarie Platinum Card with Qantas Points (40,000 QFF bonus points)

Is there an exclusion period for this card?
No.

But this could be relevant to some:

'This offer is not available to applicants who have applied for a credit card as part of a home loan package.'

Be aware that some have reported that Macquarie is difficult with applications (not my experience though). Macquarie, although not specifically excluding it, may not like you applying soon after cancelling the same card and may give your application increased scrutiny.

I've been surprised by the number of people who have said they have had difficulties with Macquarie. For me it's been 'money for jam'.
 
Just had a quick look at the T&C's.

"* To be eligible for the bonus Qantas Points offer, you must apply and be approved for a Macquarie Platinum Card with Qantas Rewards. Receive 40,000 bonus Qantas Points if you spend $2,000 on eligible purchases within 60 days of card approval. Eligible purchases exclude cash advances, balance transfers or other restricted transactions detailed in the Macquarie Qantas Rewards Program Terms and Conditions. Eligible purchases include those made by the primary cardholder and any additional cardholders on the credit card account. The 40,000 bonus Qantas Points will be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer Account within 60 days of meeting the spend criteria, provided that you are not in breach of the Conditions of Use, your Account remains open and you have provided Macquarie Card Services with a valid Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number. Offer is limited to new applicants only. This offer is not available to applicants who have applied for a credit card as part of a home loan package."


Cant see anything about government spend, Bpay etc. I am awaiting clearance of 12, 18 months exclusion periods on everything else and with my yearly rates due soon I could knock over the 2K min spend.

Anyone used rates etc for minimum spend?

Cancelled my last Macquarie Platinum in February and have just returned from 4 months OS so might as well see if I can pick up an easy 40K points.

Is that just for those with a Macquarie Bank home loan? Do they get some kind of annual fee waiver for the card?

Not sure. Just noticed it as an unusual exclusion.
 
I think this will be my next target combined with the extra points that QFF is offering via registration.

Good move. I'd keep track of everything though, as I suspect the qantas offer will not operate smoothly.

Is it possible to specify a supplementary card holder during the application or does this have to be added post-approval?
 
Just refused for this card. Phone consultant stated that there was a 6 month exclusion period. I previously closed on in March. Escalated to complaints team who confirmed (despite having zero mention of this in the T&C's) and only offered to cancel my application and remove the credit enquiry from my file.
 
Registered for Qantas offer and applied for Platinum card. Was surprised to be approved instantly given what I read here. Anyway have registration confirmation email from Qantas to use in the inevitable follow-up.

Must be new. I've churned Macquaire more than every 6 months.

Although they were pissed off when I cancelled my most recent card and tried to give it to me. Strategy didn't work!
