Haven't gone through all the posts (sorrY), but can you use this card to pay the ATO and earn points? thanks

I have this card now. I initially thought something had gone wrong in my initial online application as you don't receive any email or confirmation code that you have applied. Well after about 10 days I got an email asking for a payslip, emailed one back and again didn't hear anything for about a week until I rocked up home and had the card in the mail. Am now using it (as well as the coughpy online banking which I had previously experienced through a cancelled Jetstar Mastercard) so will be interesting how the points chase goes. I wouldn't be unhappy at another bonus 20k due to incompetence!

This card had been fairly good for me... UNTIL the first time I had to deal with Macquarie's customer service. Wow! I can now see that others here had been quite right and I should have heeded their warnings.

I give this type of poor customer service a few goes. Maybe that particular CSR was having a bad day, or received poor training, or simply was not suited to customer service... but alas, after repeated slow, pointless conversations with lots of reassurance and apology, but no action, I am done. How hard is it to actually listen, understand when a customer has an enquiry, resolve it and move on. If the CSR doesn't understand the problem there is a good chance most customers wont either ... and they will walk.

Over to the "Credit Card Promotions" thread....

Promotion still going, so thought i'd try.
Got a phone call 24 hours after saying I didn't qualify for platinum (I met the criteria), but they offered me a gold instead.

After quizzing the lady she admitted gold cards aren't eligible for QFF points, so I declined to take up the card. Said I had 90 days to reconsider!

Well I just got to my 5K spend by the end of Feb qualifying time as I refused to use the card wherever higher earning cards were accepted. Had to pay two council rate instalments which just got me over the line. Statement issued 3/3 and final tranche of 20K points posted 6/3 so once again I have to say the service has been outstanding. They have delivered in a timely way exactly what they promised so no complaints at all from me
I'm happy to report that I had the same experience as you - it worked astoundingly like clockwork, no follow-up required and everything delivered as promised. Banks can sometimes get it right! :D

Got both 2x20,000 lots after the first statement and spending 5k+ in the first statement month. Have also received the two Qantas club vouchers in the mail.

I called to check the status of my application and they said I've been declined, even though I meet their requirements and have a credit rating in good standing. I have a Jetstar Platinum Mastercard with them as well, so that's certainly odd...

I just got my second 20k points after two follow ups - my issue was a delay between applying and being approved - despite phone advice when activating the account that I would have the "current" promotions deadlines, they applied the original promotion's deadlines. They did fix it to their credit, but a little annoying.

Got my points OK, but no lounge passes yet. I mailed them about it last week.
They phoned up today (in response to my mail) to tell me they were "out of stock"!! "When will they be in stock?" I asked.
"We don't know" was the reply..! Just silly!
"Did we solve your issue for you today"...
"err...no...I don't have my lounges passes...!"

Does anyone know if the 200K cap gets applied religiously. It is in the T&C's however also states that it is up to their discretion whether this limit is enforced. They do say that they will never apply the cap at less than this amount of annual spend

I applied under this offer in Dec last year - great card, loving it so far.

However I have no desire to pay an annual fee on the first anniversary. Has anyone ever had any luck getting a fee waiver with Macquarie? Or am I just wasting my time? I'll obviously cancel if I don't get a fee waiver.

From reports not that easy but I was happy to cancel so didn't push it and they didnt offer.

Im having a lot of trouble getting bonus partner points, eg. 3 bonus pts per dollar for Holiday Inn, so a total of 4.25 ppd which is pretty good for a visa card.

The trouble is that Mac just don't automatically apply the bonus points on about 80% of bonus partner spend, this means a call to CS to get a retro applied and even that takes 3-6 months each time.

So I have no interest in renewing this card, its just too much hassle.

This card is rubbish - $5-10k of normal expenses and $190-196k of tax then bye bye

Did they offer any incentive to stay?
No, they did say the Annual Fee wasn't due until November and she could use until then, her reply was of course, why would I want to. It was quite intrusive really, they wanted to know what other card she had (none of your business), why do you want to close (because I have no use for the card), was it because of the annual fee...

Had to laugh, my wife cancelled and they rang her back later trying to persuade her to stay. I think maybe it's cancellation season!

With the PIN changes on 1 August, I don't know why anyone would want a credit card where they can't select their own PIN.

amateur hour...
