With the PIN changes on 1 August, I don't know why anyone would want a credit card where they can't select their own PIN.

amateur hour...
Indeed, my main reason is really that aside from signup bonuses (which I find hard to turn down) would rather direct my spending to cards that allow me to send other than QFF.

Both are do-able. I changed my PIN online and rang to change the points earn from QFF to MacRewards.

For my spend the bonus points on certain hotel chains was worth the switch (and the trouble of having another new points balance).

But like others here this card will go soon (even when I can get 4.25 ppd) because it just doesnt pay those bonus points automatically on many occasions and its too much trouble to keep ringing up.

But you can select your own PIN? Online, there may be a Change PIN option (there is for me). If that doesn't work you can ring them. I think the your criticism of them on this point is more 'amateur hour'

I can't log into online banking... This was a known flaw for existing MacBank customers, as their website apparently was designed for customers with only one product with the bank... There was meant to be a fix, but I still can't log in. After numerous attempts I have given up escalating the issue. Much easier to cancel the card.

We can argue semantics, but the customer experience has definitely been below expectations...

And I still can't select my own PIN

I am having ongoing problems with the Mac Platinum Visa. I must have spent hours on multiple calls chasing up non-crediting of bonus points. Since bonus points are the thing that make this Visa card a fairly good competitor to Amex cards (I mean, at 4.25 ppd when staying at Intercon) the hassle of constantly chasing up bonus points is just tiresome.

So warning to all, the sign-on bonus will probably keep popping up from time to time and lure some people to grab the points; but I can't stress enough that keeping this card will be a frustrating and infuriating experience.... never, ever, ever again will I deal with Macquarie.

Well done Macquarie.

I activated my card in mid-June, plenty of time before the 40,000 sign up bonus finished. Have been waiting on my lounge passes to arrive. Got a call from my friend who applied for the same deal at the end of June and received her lounge passes on Friday. So I thought it was time to give them a call. On the first call the person said that I needed to call Qantas as it is their issue (Wrong! The passes come from Macquarie). The second call was slightly more helpful, although I was told that there is no evidence on my account that I was meant to receive lounge passes as part of my offer, so they will need to investigate. I then highlighted that my friend had received hers already from the same deal which just confused the Macquarie representative.

Was planning on giving these passes to another friend who is going OS in the next fortnight - guess I won't be doing that now.

Cruiserette held this card for almost 12mths are realised ann fee due next month so she called up to cancel today.

Dude on the phone explained to her she might be best to re-think this plan cause if she cancelled today she would forfeit ALL the pts still in her account.

Cruiserette thinks to herself - D'Ho as she thought she had transferred them all across - then asks 'Well how many pts in this account will I forfeit'?

Answer - wait for it - wait for it .................. 1 (one) .................. 'Oh ok - well I think I might go ahead and cancel anyway'!

Just wanted to let fellow frequent flyers know that my wife and I have held this card for 12 months. I put through three times the spend my wife did and when we called up separately to cancel the card due to the annual fee both of us requested a fee waiver or cancellation. I was rejected and the Mrs was offered a fee waiver. This is definitely a card worth having due to the 1-to-1 spend to points ratio and points earned on Bpay and ATO spends. Good luck!

Mac Visa Platinum has just been upgraded by Macquarie unsolicited to BLACK. We got an email and then the cards showed up in the mail. In light of Citibank capping points to 3k per statement this card now may get more action seeing it earns 1for1 (apparently) unlimited.

I see this card is now listed on http://qantas.com/cards as giving 40k Qantas points bonus, for $99 first year annual fee (increasing to $299 in year 2) and seems like uncapped earn now that it's called Macquarie Black.
It's on the Visa Signature platform, so the interchange rate is obviously high enough for them to support the point per dollar earn rate.
