Making an international booking using Qantas call centre as it couldn't be booked online and now being unable to change it online and have to call. Still waiting on Premium line for 22 minutes so far listening to the recorded blather on how much platinums are valued. If I get through to the difficult offshore centre I'll scream.

MAKE sure you are dep from the right terminal, at the right airport.
This is most important for cities like Melbourne Aust and soon to be Sydney Aust.
AVV and MEL are far apart, and some JQd flights to SYD do dep from AVV and not MEL.
So far I have not made this mistake, as I don't fly JQ... but for those who do, triple check your dep city is right...
And don't expect the airline to hold the flight because you arr at the wrong airport for your flight.

QFi/QFd e tix/BP do not show EDITED (alphabet code) class of travel, VAd does tho.
Have been travelling QFi/QFd for many, many, many years, and EK with a QFi flight number, and have not ever seen class of travel on these.
AirNZ and SQ also do not show class of travel.
---
For a cheap to fly country like TH, maybe they already know that something for Aud$150/Usd$150, is a subclass of J.
But Buzzard, your BP does show Business tho, maybe you didn't notice it.
Just had a look see, for a usual price, for DAD to SGN, is $132.50 base fare pre taxes, so, yeap, they must have given you an "opup".

Yes, I understand!

My own total fail:
So not match fit.
Forgot to book CD!
Even more ridiculous!

I had thought that it was no longer offered.
Check in staff - two of them - told me, unprompted - that I should have booked it.

Now cooling my heels during a delay, and a check of the website suggests that CD has not resumed.

So can anyone who IS match fit confirm one way or the other? 🤣

Yes, I saw that my BP shows Business which is why I put it up.
Regarding SQ, my ticket issued by SQ shows class of travel and every SQ ticket I've had in over 10 years has always shown it.

A near fatal mistake. Staying in Naples on Tuesday night and needed to get up to FCO to start the journey home on Wednesday afternoon. Thought I would catch the train to Roma Termini then the connecting express service to FCO airport. On Monday I was looking at my options and found a direct bus service, Fiumicino Express, which runs from Naples to CMP then FCO. 3 hour journey time to FCO and about 28 euro.

I adore train travel, but I thought the bus might be a bit of fun as one might get to see a bit more of the country side instead of speeding by at ~300kph, even if I had to wake a bit earlier to make the timetable work (745am departure).

Turned out to be a stroke of genius as I walked through Napoli Centrale to get to the bus station and it was very busy. Surely not regular peak hour, I thought. Nope - there was an earthquake in Naples at about 4am Wednesday morning (not that it woke me!), and all the lines were closed as a result. I think I might've just made it if I had a train ticket, but I would've been racked with anxiety and probably would've had to resort to trying to get a one way hire car as trains didn't start running until after 10am and the cutoff for me driving and making it probably would've been about that time. Bus trip was uneventful.

Yes, class of travel, but its the alphabet code that is most important, that is not shown.
No J or C,DI subclasses codes is what I meant, you know what I mean, come on... is my pooch English not good enough, grin...

The hotel is called FLH Boemio...it was actually rather nice...well the room was, it would be considered low on services. It's a bit weird as it is part of group but they don't seem to have launched a website for it yet...but you'll find it on all the major booking sites and highly regarded.

We do believe it was stolen, yes, but the whole thing is just really confusing. We were on the train to the Algarve when asked to produce the passport...and it was just...not where it should have been!
Just as an update to this tale.

We recently had Travel Insurance Direct (TID) come back with their settlement of our insurance claim. Essentially they paid out for everything claimed including the replacement passport and express processing fee for that (passport total $560). All up about $2800 paid out...we probably made money by not going to Switzerland!

This one is a doozy.

Booked ADL-DPS in J and the trip starts with a flight ADL-MEL. For some reason, which I can’t explain, I accepted a Dash-8 flight for ADL-MEL, in whY. 🤦‍♂️ . What on earth was I thinking? I can only think that that was the only option given; the segments are married.

Anyway, as I’m HLO and the carry on limit for D8s is 7 kg, and it’s whY, I called to change the flight. $3 tax etc difference but $200 change fee. Serves me right. 😡

Why not just short check the bag. A hassle I know but I would take that punt vs $200!

Your other 'almost mistake' was forgetting that on a Dash8 they take your cabin bags off you and stow them in the back. The 7kg sort-of doesn't apply. If you had changed flights to avoid the hand luggage issue, it would have cost you $200 for nothing.

Mind you, that distance on a Dash8 is just a bit too far. CBR-SYD, or MEL-CBR are just ok. ADL-MEL or CBR-BNE is a bit much. Maybe they cancel each other out?

Yes the time was blocked as 1hr 45m. All wrong.

I read the carry on on rules and read it as they may take and stow in the compartment. Mine is a compact carry-on so I concluded that it may be allowed on and therefore subject to ( probably enforced) weight rules. Never done D8 - what would I know 🤷‍♂️ :).

Thankfully it was the package change - Cabin, carry on and arrival time in MEL. But an expensive mistake.

Apparently forgot to change (or did not save?!?) my DoB in my online Indonesian visa application, which defaulted to the date I completed the application instead of my actual DoB.

Immigration officer pointed it at passport check and offered 2 options. 1. Queue (for 1+ hour) at the VoA counter, reapply and then queue again for immigration OR 2. "pay the visa fee at the spot" and do the changes there.

Option 2 it was...

(as he was also happy to accept AUD)

And then he keeps the visa fee?

I guess you wouldn't have known that your carry-on was too big to fit into the o'head bins (they're very small on a Dash-8).

I had a similar situation in Japan recently with an ANA Dash-8. I expected them to put it in the hold, but the FA said just try and get it under the seat. Glad it was a short flight!
