I'm so glad to hear there are others that do that! I don't feel quite so odd now. I often stand waiting for the alarm to ring so I can accept the alarm and go to shower, as I don't want to switch it off in case I forget to set it again for the next morning ... even though I don't need it! Weird.

Exactly what I do when working away and by myself.

Oh no just realised We (2pax) have to go to LOTFAP in 35 days. J is stratospheric, W is more expensive than J saver. Lots of Y sale. No Classic reward other than X. No I fares other than AA.

Might have to try Y flex to J points upgrade

Some good deals out of Asia to the USA... AA business class exPVG to ORD is coming in at AUD2150 business class return. Could combine with either economy paid fare to PVG or use something like Lifemiles (AUD1900 return, but availability at end jan/early feb is scarce).

Other specials available to other US ports out of ICN and TPE. (source googleflights)

With Qantas?

It's dished out by status in descending order.

Within each status group it is then determined through
i) Who requested the upgrade earlier
ii) Qantas club membership (for Silver and Bronze).

For example, Tom, Dick & Harry all apply for an upgrade. Tom is Gold whilst Dick & Harry are both Silver. There are only two upgrades available. The first goes to Tom as he is Gold. Because Dick applied for his upgrade when booking his economy seat 6 months ago he received the upgrade over Harry, who only applied three days prior to departure.

30 minutes ago booked BNE-AKL vv for my travel buddy....

Then immediately realised I had him flying out of AKL the same day he departs LAX.....sigh.

This is where status with an airline is so handy. Called up... waited maybe 60 seconds on hold.... told the agent what an idiot I was... booking cancelled a few minutes later....

I left two bottles of duty free whiskey in the overhead bin the other week. Thanks to a baggage handler in the terminal I got them both back.

Now that's a pain. Just as an aside, I think I must rate as an oddbod. I don't need to set alarms as I seem to have a built in alarm clock. I just tell myself the time I need to awake by and about two minutes before that time, my eyes open and I'm awake! Doesn't really matter what the time might be, so it's not habit. I can change from 6am to 2 am without issue ... all I do is tell myself the required time before I go to sleep.

I can still be late though, usually by getting engrossed in something and losing track of time, and I still do set alarms as I'm still afraid I'll sleep in, even though I don't!

Just don't let your hot-tub heat pump blow the hotel fuses!

I dont think its as simple as that. I dont know that requesting an upgrade earlier puts you ahead of someone else.
It makes more sense to me that someone paying a more expensive fare bucket generally closer to departure will be ahead in the queue than someone who paid for same type of fare but cheaper fare bucket.

And then you may have a WP booking Y Saver vs SG who booked Y Flex?

Anyway should have booked the Feb 2017 trip way back in July 2016. Big Big omission

Actually, I did blow the fuses in the Millenium Hilton Bangkok not long after it opened. I blame jet lag  I plugged my aussie hair curler into the socket and BAM !!!!! My finger turned black, I saw stars, and Ron says hey the TV just went off ! So I blew the whole floor - the electrician wasnt happy !!! And I am very careful about which hair curler I plug in now :D

I booked ~AUD700 of advance purchase at Hilton VCE using me new world MasterCard on Monday saving myself AUD21 in foreign currency fees.

I felt incredibly satisfied with myself making a saving for three days. Then I realised one of my Amex cards still has a spend 300 get 150 credit unused.

Bummer.:(

Maybe not a mistake as my offer is only for Australian Hiltons

Waiting to take off at LHR a few weeks ago I decided not to pull out my phone and take pictures of EK, BA and EY A380s taking off in succession with the EK craft turning to fit into the background of what would have been subsequent photos. Beautiful light and skies too. As an A380 lover I'm still kicking myself :( QR's A380 almost made it a 4-some.

Can I kick you too?:p That would have made for awesome pics! I find myself taking more pics these days but I do delete a lot.

Booking wife and daughter's flights with Virgin for our weekly commute.

Yes VA have been cheaper in December and January but VA cancelled the 5:00pm SYD-BNE last Sunday but luckily put my wife and daughter on 6:00pm flight which ended up delayed. They waited in SYD and I waited for them in BNE. Lost close to 90 minutes which was not easy with 4 month old infant.

How is that family pooling going though?

We pulled up at the new Crown hotel in Perth and did a valet park to go to their $99 smorgasbord. Goodbye $55 for the service.
I think we will appreciate the Hyatt in Perth so much more with our 2 Club At The Hyatt cards for free parking and two eat free when we are a group of four.

Booked an apartment in a French
village 6 months ago for Feb this year.
Chose the location to be close to friends
in another location. When checking
Bookings this week discovered that the
location shown on the booking agent site
was incorrect. In fact about 600 to 700 meters
from where we thought. A long way through the
snow in a hilly carless village.
Spoke to the booking agent who
Blames the apartmet managers.
Spoke to the apartement managers
who blame the booking agent !.
Round and round we go !!!!

Well TiredOldFlyer with it snowing in Sicily it is definitely freezing in France.
My brother has a place in the Bayonne region and he has started the winterizing process to avoid freezing damage.
Up at Big Bear in California one of our friends had all of his toilets crack in the first winter as he didn't know about winterizing.
There are some pretty good snow footwear that you may want to get for marching thru the snow. I guess you could get a snow scooter.
