There is no doubting you are a pacesetter. I only have 4 on the go, and my most advanced booking is only June 2018!!! (Note to self - must try harder)
I have 4 trips on the go and going on one of them in a few days and when I return will start planning next 2 trips for February-April 2018.

I remember most bookings and if I forget can reference the emails in Hotmail.

A couple of days ago we had driven for over 3 hours, on Irish roads that is only about 160 km, and stopped for lunch. Then we realised that I had left my backpack with Passports, Tablet etc at the last B&B. They had done their best to contact us but the phone was out of reception for some time.

If we had contacted them they were going to courier it to our next stop, who they had already rang, as our touring folder of flights and bookings was also in there. We were so worried we had turned around and drove back as soon as we realised what had happened.

So a gentle days touring turned into an annoying 11 hour day going backwards & forwards over the dreadful local roads.

Went on the D8 ( bus )from South Quay to Stratford and then the 25 to Ilford and back to Oxford Circus on the London double decker red buses. We had one couple eat apples without ever closing their mouths followed by Mr Shouty on the phone for an hour.
Getting back on the tube and then the DLR was such a relief.

I have been thinking this have been quite an entertaining thread but had nothing to contribute (thank God) until this week :p

Flying out next week and hubby misplaced his credit cards! Could not find them for the world, ended up having to cancel them, order new ones and put a rush order in with a courier. The new ones will be here next week...
Until then I have had the pleasure of going onto every single hotels website, or call, to change the credit card. Then the car rental company and all the bills being paid by automatic transfer... just a headache I did not need at the moment :D
Oh, and an hour later, the old cards turned up... but way too late then....

Used up my AA miles to get to a competition in France.... Happy with AY/QF coming home...could only get QF/BA going over.....

Now Ive discovered booking-EY-with-AA-miles..... and I'm sad. :(:(

Second mistake? Booked as round trip. Cant cancel the outbound without also losing the AY flights... sigh.

I booked a VA Y domestic award to keep a personal trip cheap. I have some orphan EY miles but not enough for domestic, was going to buy EY miles but it didn't make sense financially. Now with the the current SPG promo on I was reminded EY was a partner and I realised I should have transferred miles from my SPG account to EY to redeem for VA!

Then I could save my VA points for SQ.

The mistakes are never ending in this world!

Now I have to say, this was not me, but worthy of this thread!

A mate arrives in foreign country and had luggage searched. Following the search his passport was returned however later he could find hide nor hair of it!

Some time later, as he was retracing his steps in his mind, it dawned on him where his passport was. He slipped it into his duty free bag ... which he had promptly given away as he had bought the duty free smokes for someone else!

SPG points too valuable to transfer to EY in my view

Checked into a hotel late at night and had a shower. Removed the bar of soap from its plastic pouch and it felt a bit funny and didn't foam or become slippery with water, but didn't think much of it.

The next morning in daylight I saw the soap was also glad-wrapped in plastic.

...

My mistake of the day: Booked a hotel room ages out on a flexible rate. Checked closer and found a cheaper rate so booked that. Then proceeded to cancel the new booking, not the old one. When I realised, the cheaper rate was no longer available. *sigh*
I have redeemed myself. The cheaper rate has come back in the nick of time. I triple checked before deleting the dearer one.;)

yes, about 15 minutes ago. In Reno, using the laptop with my multi plug, wanted to make a cup of tea, removed the computer plug and put in the jug..... Arrrrrgggghhh it blew the fuse..... twice in six months!!!!! no spare now have to search the casinos for a connector.

Mistake: cancelling an AirBNB a few days out from arrival. Their policy is to refund back to account from which payment is made only. I no longer have that card, or an account with the relevant institution. Thus far it's proving difficult to recover that money.

Righto. Just got statement from NAB showing the money has been deposited into that closed account, which automatically reactivates it. So halfway to a win.

But how do I get it out? No card, and no longer any online banking access to transfer it.

Any tips?

It may be easiest to attend a branch to close the account (which I imagine you'll want to do for the same reasons it was previously closed), then carry the cash to your new bank. Depending on the amounts, cash may beat a bank cheque, for which they'll want $25 or so.

If you can't easily attend a branch there will be a form you complete and submit, probably to the manager of the branch where you originally opened the account, with details of the bank and account where you'd like the funds transferred. I dare say there'll be a fee for this too. My bank (not the NAB) won't let you do this via email or fax, only mail or in person... in the latter case of course you could just take the cash as above.

Kind regards,

SBD

Yep, last week on VA 817 was having a bad day (not feeling well at all) headed off the plane to my first appointment in Sydney and upon arrival realised my Ipad was still on the plane in the seat pocket!! Never done anything like this ever in 1000s of flights.

Happy ending some wonderful person found it and handed it in. the VA baggage services folk held it for me till I was able to get back and retrieve phew!!

I was not able to find out who handed it in but I am putting out good vibes for you and hopefully they make it to you. Thank you.
