Ran out of mstr andye4's salbutamol inhaler in US. Despite getting a family friend to call through a prescription, it still cost USD73- ouch

Doing some research at UK National Archives in London, there were 2 Novotels that may have suited - "Novotel Brentford" (which was closer) or "Novotel West London " (in Hammersmith). Which one to book turned on which has most convenient tube links. Turned out to be the one at Hammersmith, so I booked it.

Just before I left , I went on line to work out best routes, stations etc, coming in from Heathrow on arrival. I worked it out and noted it in my calendar for reference when I arrived.

So I followed my own instructions, which put me at South Ealing station, with a short cab ride to the hotel. No cabs, so I walked and pulled my case the km or so to the hotel (part destroying a wheel in the process).

... to the Novotel Brentford!! I had scoped out the wrong one for my arrival!!! They pointed out my mistake, and booked me a cab - and 16 pounds later, I arrived at correct hotel. Damaged case, and 1 hour lost time included.

Yes, same train actually, just should have got off a few stops later and then 100m or so walk to he hotel.:rolleyes::evil:

Was standing out the front of Changi Crown Plaza for 30mins waiting for my Uber to arrive to take me to Terminal 3. drivers kept canceling my trip... until I walked back in to order a taxi and the hotel concierge informed me that Terminal 3 was 100m to my right, through the hotel .

Didn't realise we needed a Canadian ETA when flying Cathay Pacific 889 to New York via Vancouver since we would only be in the airport holding area for an hour.
Luckily, had arrived early enough to pull out the laptop and get the applications done in order to check in.

Just wanted to post a update on my parents sue / Susan saga with losing all velocity points and the denied boarding.
straitman helped out and passed on a email address from virgin Australia and today I received a email stating they have reinstated the 221,200 velocity points back into my step mums again. Excellent news and my parents arrived home last night from their holiday and it was a great surprise after a shocker of a start !
The great thing about this forum is the help , advice and people going above and beyond to fellow forum users, its a great example of this forum working in the perfect way !
Thankyou straitman and fellow users who made comments and suggestions!

I once got a taxi at MBS and was asked, "Which terminal?"
Me: International please.
Him: They are all international.

These sort of outcomes are what makes AFF a great place to for all of us.

So it looks like both Qantas and Virgin can assist you in recovering points lost thru inactivity. My niece recovered her Qantas points with a Qantas Points Challenge and now Virgin is pretty similar.

Booked and paid for a balloon trip in India last December US$250. The trip was cancelled and a refund promised.

I forgot all about it.

Reading JohnM's current trip report, which incudes India, stirred a memory. I e-mailed the overall tour organiser with frankly not much hope of recovering the money.

To my surprise, an almost immediate reply, acknowledging payment due, with apologies for 'forgetting' and I've sent my bank details.

Not there yet, but I'm pretty confident.

You sent your bank details to India?

Booking a recent flight from Huntsville AL to LAX I found that the prices were fairly expensive so I had a look ex Nashville which is 2 hours drive away. The cheapest fare was USD249.00 on a non-stop Southwest flight BNA/LAX at 0530 arriving LAX at 0800. Later options arrived LAX in the evening which IMHO was cutting it too fine when holding a separate ticket LAX/SYD/BNE on QF.

I had a rental car the whole time which I'd picked up in Madison AL prior to the conference so after the final dinner on the Saturday night I finished packing about midnight then had a quick power nap for an hour before getting up at 0100 to checkout to depart at 0145. It was then I really had to question what the hell I was thinking when I went ahead with that option.

There were patches of fog along the way in the valleys so I had to drive a lot slower than usual so I was mildly concerned about missing the flight but I knew I could cancel up to 10 mins prior to departure and put the funds in credit so wasn't that stressed about it. Got to the car rental car park at BNA at 0345, dropped off the car then it was only a short walk to the terminal so was at the WN checkin counters by 0400.

Next time I will either stay an extra night and leave at a more sensible time.

Didn't check the lock on my side of an interconnecting door when I arrived in a hotel room in DC the other week (I was pretty much checking in, getting on wifi, and getting into a work meeting). Checked in Thurs afternoon.

I was woken at 7am. Fri night I have some jet lag challenges, and am up reading from 4:30-5:30ish. I get back to sleep, but am woken at 7am by the sounds of a door opening. I'm in deep enough sleep to hear it, but am confused by the sound - I knew the hotel room door was locked and bolted, and there shouldn't be that much noise / handle turning noise from that door. Realise it's the interconnecting door opening. And the door on my side was unlocked. A crack of light is coming through into my room. I yell out "Stop it!" (very impressed I didn't swear). I heard an "Oh, sorry" from a male voice, and the doors shut.
I had my suitcase on the stand in front of the door, so it would have cause more ruckus and noise if they had opened it more fully.

Currently in Dublin and had pre -booked tickets to the Book of Kells. I am one of those people who has a folder with printouts of all activities and an itinerary at the front.

However, this only good if you read it and don't rely on your memory. So, last night my wife said "are you sure about the date of our tour". I pulled out the relevant page to prove her wrong and show my superiority . We were, of course, 8 hours too late. Luckily it was only 20E donated and I was able to book another tour tomorrow - but my planning prowess took a big hit.

I don't really book Hilton that much but having issues remembering to book via the app instead of the computer so missing out on the app bonus of 500 points each time :(. Same thing with hotels.com I forget the app. I generally search when on a bigger screen. Seems to be a drive for booking through apps.

For only 500 Hilton points I would rather book via MrRebates or Cash Rewards to receive cash back.
However earlier this year, taking the 5,000 points for booking via the app and paying with Visa was a no-brainer ;).

Must have missed the 5,000 points for that too!!

Do you get to keep your benefits if you book through these websites?
I need to read the T&C to figure out if they will work for an NZ bank account.
Thanks for the tip! Much appreciated :)

Yes you do as they link directly to Hilton website from the cashback site. Most times current special rates are also available.

Be careful though as eBates has somehow embedded their IATA # onto my laptop and I cannot use MrRebates to book as the eBates IATA # appears when I click from MrRebates. :(
