Made any travel mistakes lately?

Yes, but isnā€™t Christmas/Cocos worth it? šŸ˜‰
That was Dec/Jan and yes they were great. Not a full aircraft either (even around Xmas/NY) so plenty of middle seats free.

Unfortunately the most recent VARA ā€˜experienceā€™ was DRW-PER. šŸ™

Used the Paris Metro with luggage. Must have gone either up or down at least 8 sets of stairs. Next time in Paris itā€™s going to be a taxi or Uber.
Have done the same mistake in London, as well. Need to choose the accommodation location better next time around...
Taipei was another where I was stung by stairs. Lucky they were a lot shorter and right in front of the hotel.

London is *slightly* better since theyā€™ve made a lot of Tube stations ā€œstep freeā€. It can be a Magical Mystery tour getting to / from platforms via hidden elevators but better than following the masses through that best of British over engineered infrastructure!

Especially if you have to change lines but there are those truly magical spots where the transfer is just a walk across the platform eg District Line to Piccadilly Line to Heathrow - change at Borons Court (and some others past Earls Court)!

I actually used buses in Paris recently because it was quicker and less hassle than walking 15 minutes across a metro station
We got as far as the bus first, only to be told the bus route was suspended because of a political demonstration.šŸ¤¬
At that point I suggested a taxi but was told by Mrs Bashworth we had got the Paris tickets and were going to use them!

Yes I got caught because it was the Paris Marathon and the buses weren't running on the route I wanted.

I also like buses because you get to see things

Checking in for an Avianca flight. The agent "helpfully" suggests that she has a window seat a couple of rows forward, and asks if I'd like to move there. I agree.

Once airside, I realised that I originally had a row to myself, and now have two seat neighbours. The flight is nearly empty so it really wasn't necessary to move.

If that was me, I'd assume it was an attempt to balance the plane without causing offence but you are a lighter individual than me šŸ˜€
