QF1 wine list so average, not much better then my last J flight. Clonakilla makes good Shiraz but 2012 vintage is too young to drink now.
QF2 wine list looks slightly better.
Still hoping to get RWT or similar quality on my coming QF1/QF10 flights.

Indeed. Posted that same opinion in my TR.

Awwwwww just realised my MEL-LHR F trip is on QF9 later this year, so spa not open :( :( Sad panda.

RWT was on QF 94 a month or so back but they might have blown the budget on that. Still flogging that 06 Delatite Riesling I see! Big gap between RWT and Clonakilla O'Riada, actually that's unfair, the Clonakilla is an excellent wine.

Apparently it is - there are reports here of the MEL spa being open later to cater for the retimed departure and that the info on the website is (still) wrong.

Hoping for RWT/389 or similar on my QF9/10 in July. I had O'Riada in Sep on QF127 and didn't finish the glass; I just didn't like it :(

Spa is definitely open for the re-timed QF9. I had one last week at just before boarding.

That's good news about MEL

Is the spa in the DXB F lounge open when QF9 arrives at 7.00am.
I would love to surprise my wife with a wash and blow dry on our visit in a couple of months.

It's open 24/7, unfortunately as posted by Paging Joan the wash and blow dry has been removed from the list of complimentary treatments. To be honest it would be tight timewise to fit in a Spa visit if going through to LHR on QF9. Just enough time for a shower and coffee.

QF12 in F last week; Duval-Leroy Brut on the ground at LAX, Veuve LGD after takeoff. So stingy...

Also fwiw it was my first visit to the new F lounge.. Packed like a zoo and felt chaotic and like the staff didn't have it under control. Unfortunate as I was excited to see how they'd done!

This was my experience as well flying back on the 21st.

Though the lounge wasn't overcrowded at all. I asked a waitress when she expected it to get busy and she said they weren't tonight, though did comment it had been crazy the last few days.

Thanks Princess Fiona
I'm sure your correct.
A look around, shower and a coffee and it will be time to board again.

Thanks for posting the wine lists - looks like too many quaffers. Were you pleasantly surprised by any of the wines? And how did you find the champers?

No - disappointing, young, cheap are the words I'd use. The champers, ok ... but you can't drink that rubbish for hours on end ;)

Cheers - I might have to treat our next trip like an extension of the Epiqure quaffer clean out project. :)

I can assure you it is very much possible to drink that rubbish for hours on end ;). Polishing off a full bottle of Pol Roger SWC MEL-DXB while also sleeping 7 hours makes for an enjoyable flight! Polishing off two might have made for a different experience though :D.

OP, short guide to the best of QF F: arrive F lounge 3.5 hours prior to flight. Dine in lounge, I know lots of recommendations for the salt and pepper squid but the burger is really excellent as well. Get spa treatment ending about 60-90 minutes before flight time. Enjoy lounge ambiance before flight. Then eat more on flight and drink to (and perhaps beyond :D) your heart's content. Try the steak sandwich onboard.

Also, 7 QF F flights over the past 18-24 months here, 6 with Pol Roger SWC and one with Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame. Never got the Taittinger :(. Should also note I had 7 great crews, perhaps fortunate in that but I did go 7-7. QF is probably my favorite F carrier start to finish right now :).

They are still in my top 10!
Top 3 for us and I read bottom 3 for FM:)

Actually, I don't think the food and wines are up to the top 2 on our list, nor is the service which IMHO has been very varied depending whether the crew comes out of London or Australia and whether they've had a good night.

Is anyone able to quickly summarise the DBX 1st lounge experience in terms of accessing it from the plane after SYD-DBX and the special gate boarding from the lounge when catching the LHR flight? Thanks
