It's sad that MH doesn't have A380's for the SYD or MEL routes. I heard it's some type of restriction imposed on them. Does this mean we will never see the A380 in Australia? i.e. only the small A333's? eventually the 772's will be retired as well...

That is correct - The airlines have reached the maximum number of seats for the Australia - Malaysia bilateral.

Just had a quick look...can QF WPs order from the Enrich Platinum Business menu if travelling J class? PS: you can actually order online within 30 days of travel.

I got an invite, the website link didn't work seveal times, than I finally got a message that you can't do it if your flight involves a sector outside the few its available on, so DEL-KUL-BNE didn't cut it, despite the invite. Another true MH IT experience... Cheers skip

Update: in the ITC Green lounge at DEL. Not the best OWE option I've ever found. The champagne was - uh non-existent. Bring on boarding....

Update dua, in the business lounge in KUL, NOT the premium lounge. Maybe it was full, maybe I'm too ugly. A bit light on for showers, prawn mee soup from the noodle bar was ok though.

Any personal CSM greeting for being Emerald?

So I did SYD - xKUL - HKG the other day on MH140 (SYD - KUL) and MH72 (KUL - HKG) in Y. Just some feedback and observations:

MH140: SYD - KUL

  • Friendly customer service but no special greeting
  • Hard product was mixed on the 772. Ancient IFE system and 2 - 5 - 2 configuration not the most optimal i guess. I was in the aisle on the row of 5 and flight was not very full which worked out well. Seat was comfortable and pitch was adequate (especially after flying QF 739 and 3K A320s)
  • Great departure time for maximisation of F lounge time at a quiet time too

KUL Enrich Platinum Lounge
  • Arrived into KUL at the ghastly hour of 3am. Lounge angel said that the Platinum Lounge was closed for food service but was otherwise open for me to use. Ended up being the only one there. Walked across to the Business Lounge to check it out too. Definitely more crowded and less personal so headed back to the Platinum Lounge
  • Only downside was that they did not offer me to use the Sleeping / Slumber rooms (only found that out I was eligible to use them from the staff the next morning - I just had to request) which was a bummer. I ended up sleeping on one of the couches. Nice friendly touch by one of the staff who said I looked cold and brought over a blanket.
  • Very friendly lounge staff - had a chat to one of them who commented that the Platinum Lounge was getting crowded since MH joined OW and they probably needed to expand

MH72: KUL - HKG

  • Friendly customer service again - not special greeting from the CSM. BUT through the flight, the flight steward started addressing me by name and came by at the beginning of meal service to ask me what I wanted so they could put it aside (a la CX)! Later, I happened to go past the galley and saw the manifest with my name / seat number highlighted. So was definitely singled out as a WP which was nice
  • Plane was an A330. IFE was better than the 772 and seat was ok.

Overall, I think MH is a great addition to OW. Pretty good and friendly service I thought. Good value for money too. Only problem is their schedule is not very good for my purposes now.

Antarius from Flyertalk sat next to me and got an op-up and, after the CSM carefully scrutinised a print out, got a personal greeting as a OWE from the CSM:cool:. I paid for my J ticket and got no OWE greeting at all:shock:. Noone on the flight KUl-BNE got any such greeting at all...

That is correct - The airlines have reached the maximum number of seats for the Australia - Malaysia bilateral.

There is no restriction on seats on the Australia Malaysia route as such for local carriers:

COMBINATION PASSENGER AND CARGO CAPACITY:
(i) unrestricted capacity, frequency and aircraft type to and from all points in
Australia other than Sydney, Melbourne (Tullamarine), Brisbane, Perth, and
Avalon Airport;
(ii) unrestricted capacity, frequency and aircraft type to and from Avalon Airport;
and
(ii) to and from Sydney, Melbourne (Tullamarine), Brisbane and Perth:
(a) With immediate effect, 25600 seats each way each week
(b) From March 2009, 29100 seats each way each week.

Where there is a restricted city, its 4157 seats each way per day.

For Malaysian carriers the restriction is 23,500 seats per week howver this is at 87% utilization

Yes I agree with this they seem to fit the mold of a great Premium carrier and care about OW pax. (excluding their dreadful website) I just wish all OW carriers took their OW obligations seriously (AB I mean you), seems from lots of others reports too that AB just don't fit within OW, maybe because of who their main shareholder is. I would like to see them leave and either stay vacant or some other carrier to fill their spot.

The only greeting I want is one with a decent bottle of red!

I want that too! but sometimes its nice to be personally greeted by name, I think it adds an element of class to the whole travel experience especially when not flying on your 'home' airline, means they actually value your business and KWYA.

Malaysian Manage My Booking link is finally working !!!!!!!

Unfortunately the good news ends there.
View flight details... Check
View fare rules... Check (Actually quite decent)
Change flights... Check
Change FF number... FAIL
View seat allocation... FAIL
Change seat allocation... FAIL

Also no changes to the Enrich website.

At least its some progress, I don't like having zero control over my bookings, so at least this will provide some control.

Hopefully they will add seat allocation in the next decade :P

do they still have that haagen dazs fridge in the golden lounge? Thats my favourite fridge.

damn only three? i hope they still have green tea flavour when i get back to it. :)

This might not include changes after that article was published:
- Air Asia X increasing PER from 7 to 9 weekly, MEL and SYD from 7 to 11 weekly.
(AirAsia X Expands Operation from July 2013 | Airline Route – Worldwide Airline Route Updates, AirAsia X Increases Perth Service from late-June 2012 | Airline Route – Worldwide Airline Route Updates)
- MH increasing BNE from 5 weekly to daily (Malaysia Airlines Increases Brisbane Service from mid-Sep 2013 | Airline Route – Worldwide Airline Route Updates/)
- MH reintroducing the BKI - PER route (1 daily) (Malaysia Airlines Resumes Kota Kinabalu – Perth Route from Dec 2012 | Airline Route – Worldwide Airline Route Updates)

I think it's close to 100% now.

I flew BKK-KUL-SIN last week.

Service in business class was good and no personal greeting on either flight. Managed 5 gin and tonics on the BKK-KUL leg as they kept refilling my glass before I could finish it. Just as well gin is non-alcoholic otherwise I would have been in trouble.

The seats in business were also good.

They use the Thai lounge in BKK and the Golden lounge in the KUL sattelite terminal was quite nice with plenty of food on offer. Did not see any alcohol but I am guessing it is available on request. The ice cream fridge is interesting.

Take note MH depart/arrive at T2 in SIN.
