While it is a sad act I think some people need to get a bit of a grip....
The world was here yesterday and it will keep going tomorrow... On here and on FB I've read a few posts as if the world is ending and we've lost all hope...
Gaza and the Israel/Palestinian conflict has been going on for 60 years with many horrible acts... 9/11, Iraq, Afghanistan yes all pretty unfortunate... But for 40+ years we lived under the cold war where everyone could be fried within 30-60 minutes, we've had WW2, WW1, the 100 years war, the inquisition, the crusades, the middle ages, the dark ages, plagues, slaughters... All in all this era is one of the safest, healthiest, free-est periods in all of history... Are all wars or conflicts going to end tomorrow... No.. No more murders or rapes or horrible acts... No...
Maybe its just the tendency of things to look dark straight after a shock and then the next day or two and things start reverting back to normal, but sheeesh some people are going off the deep end over this... WA loses this many people on the road every years as would most Oz states, how many people do you think are dying in hospitals every day/month/year of a whole bunch of preventable diseases and causes???
And what precisely do you expect Tony A..... to do, go in their all guns blazing like Rambo and secure the site himself??? From the view point of getting Russia's attention maybe it would have been better to have a whole bunch of Chinese on board rather than a whole bunch of people from mostly middling to small powers who can largely be ignored because they can't bring that much pressure to bear... A fall out amongst a couple of permanent security council members that usually vote according to Real Politik might have seen more action....
