Malaysian looks good J value...any catches?

Hmm we must be. Going over I was 17A (having originally been assigned 20B) but that was on the 19th Feb and on Friday I was in 3K so right behind you.

MH122/123 is also changing from 777 to A330 but later this week. So for a few short days daily double 777's then a 777/A330 combo.

I actually moved into 17a for the way over as I had the whole row to myself. Just got off MH123 and whole of J was full.

So I missed out on the newer aircraft? D'oh..oh well just another excuse to squeeze out another trip!

Thinking of booking SYD-AMS so tried a dummy booking online, not without hiccup. Tried calling their number in KL but was left holding long past the suggested wait time (12 minutes) so gave up. Whilst I wait to get my resolve back I have some questions;
1. Anyone had success with the phone booking system?
2. What is their long-haul 777-200 metal like KUL-AMS?
3. Anyone done the KL stopover and headed to Penang to break the journey? I will take suggestions for say 2 nights stopover.

777 long haul is a sloped flat bed with plenty of room in J. Economy is 2-5-2 with a dated AVOD system but 34 inches of pitch.

Sorry, I should have mentioned I am looking to book in J. Is the sloped flat bed on the AMS route? Hopefully not like the sloped bed in SQ J SIN-IST which is pretty ordinary.

There is only 1 777 configuration that MH fly.

Thank you. Is this an older a/c or modern interior?

That is what you will get in the 777. The newer interiors are found in the 330, 380 and 737.

The 777's have been around for a while

Thanks for the update as I was looking at them as an option to go to KUL, rather then via SIN, good to have some feed back on them.

I am still waiting for my SIN-KUL J flight on the 18 of Feb and return on the 22nd to post, and have lodged a claim but no sign of them yet.

Points and SC's came through today for both flights, including double points for both miles and cabin bonus.

Mine have come through too, but all sorts of errors on the activity statement below:

I like the cabin bonus! :)It's a shame it didn't make it to the total points column...

Just relooked at mine, points and SC's are correct but it is showing as discount economy in the narrative as well even though it was a business class ticket.

The Plot thickens..so upon inspection of my statement, I see this today:

QFPOINTS2.jpg

So from 261,116, its gone to -1,028

So it hasn't changed by the end of the day,
4115 = mileage from SYD to KUL.
4115*0.75 = 3087 Which is the MH cabin bonus
1028=4115*0.25, not sure why thats on there.

So essentially, the double points for MH being part of OW have not been posted yet.

The main issue in flying MH is that their Enrich FF system is hopeless, it usually takes a number of emails and phone calls to get the FF points to be credited to my account, their 'My Booking' web access is not reliable lately, my 2 bookings disappeared a few days ago and re-appear yesterday, and there is another award booking which has totally disappeared from 'My Booking' but in fact these bookings are all still in the system which I had called and confirmed. But, once on board, the service is good, the J class seats (I am talking about 777) are comfortable (angle flat); they do servce booze but only happens after taking off, so no champagne while waiting to take off, alcohol is usually free flow and generous. Besides the pain in dealing with the Enrich system, I fully enjoy flying MH J class every time.

Couldn't agree more with you on this. I've never had a negative experience on MH J class.

Still haven't had my points from my trip in Feb credited. After 14 days I lodged a missing points claim and got a response from Qantas this morning that I am double dipping as the points were allocated to another frequent flyer program. Odd considering my Qantas FF number is on the boarding passes!
