Malaysian looks good J value...any catches?

Still haven't had my points from my trip in Feb credited. After 14 days I lodged a missing points claim and got a response from Qantas this morning that I am double dipping as the points were allocated to another frequent flyer program. Odd considering my Qantas FF number is on the boarding passes!

I suspect they have issues, I called up yesterday about points from a trip on the 16/2, told to give it another two weeks. An hour later my trip from the 17/3 posted, all 52 points in L class, with presumably double points still to come.

Yeah going to give them a call about it a bit later, there certainly are issues.

Finally got my points sorted out for my trip on Malaysian after an email to the service centre.

For my outbound trip when I claimed them missing online it came back that I had claimed on another airline. According the the Qants rep I spoke with on Friday this is pretty common with Malaysian. Anyway Qantas have sorted it and credited my account manually.

For my inbound trip they came on the same day 'normally', but like others have said my J (well actually Z class) seats are showing as discount economy, but with the correct number of status credits. Also as other have said the points calculation looks odd. For my flight SYD-KUL I have two figures in the base points column, one is 100% of the miles, the 2nd is 75% of the miles. Then in cabin bonus there is a negative figure which is 25% of the actual miles. So in total I have been credited 1.5x the actual miles when the earn table says it should be 0.75x.

For my trip from CLB-KUL in the base points column I have two figures which represent the actual miles and in cabin bonus two figures of .25% of miles, giving a total of 2.5x the actual points, when the earn table says to me it should be 1x the points. Not complaining of course but the whole thing is really screwy.

Will be interesting to see how long it takes MH and QF to get their systems better integrated.

Apols for repeating this request here however: can anyone tell me how many enrich miles are required for biz class mel-cdg return and mel-jfk return ? damned if I can get the enrich website to work.

many thanks

frank

biz class mel-cdg return - 102k
Site went down when I tried jfk

I can never get the damned thing to work. I thought it might be a browser issue so tried chrome and IE and same thing. Nada.

Many thanks for the mel-cdg info

Tried a few more time for JFK but still get the error message. Sorry it didn't work.

777 long haul is a sloped flat bed with plenty of room in J. Economy is 2-5-2 with a dated AVOD system but 34 inches of pitch.
Is the Bus Class Seat on the A330 that goes from SYD to KUL a full lie flat or a sloping one? And what about on the A380 from KUL to LR is this a full flat one or a sloping one?

The A330 is sloped, and with PLENTY of legroom:

I like the 3 seats in the centre in J on MH A330 as that means me, wife and daughter can be seated together:)

I am planning to go to KUL to visit family, but not sure if I should spend my AMEX MR miles for us to go in J with MH or go with SQ ??? SQ requires more miles....

MH = Direct flights, that'd be my pick.

Unless you particularly enjoy the lounge experience whilst transiting in Singapore enroute KUL why wouldn't you wish to save your points for your next flight? Fly direct SYD-KUL with MH and be richer for the experience.

Ok thanks. Only considering SQ is because I've never tried sq before. But will go MH I think.

Ok thanks. Do you rate the J seat to be a good one on the A330? I will be flying from SYD. I've only tried J on the 747 and 772. How does the A330 J compare?

I beleive it is more or less the same seat. In fact looking at the picture a few posts ago, the overhead panel looks a lot like a 777 to me.

In my opinion, the 747 I was in on SYD>KUL looked a bit worse for wear. It wasn't BAD, but the shiny seats on A380's do make it look a bit old.

And yes my apologies the 2-3-2 in my photo was a 777, not the A330 which I believe are now serviving the AYD>KUL route?

Thanks for the info. Looks like the new J on A330 is 2-2-2. M decisions decisions should I go for newer J on A330 and one of us needs to split up or sit in together in 3 on the 772 in J....

You better be quick because the 777 will be off Sydney soon, in fact I think it is this week.

Oh. In that case I won't make it for the 772 as I won't be travelling until end of this year. So it will be all New A330 flights for SYD?
