I did a search for April 2013 SYD-KUL-SYD and it is indeed a A333 for MH. How sad I will miss the 747 and 772. Anyone know if it will be the A333 refit or the old regional A333?
New A333. MH have stated that the new 330 is what they are using into Australia.
The 772's are looking tired, and have been for a while now. The seat pitch is great but everything else could do with a freshen up really.
Does anyone know if a Qantas Gold (OW Sapphire) will get the 50% extra baggage allowance that MH Enrich Gold members do when flying with MAS or is it just the standard 20kg in economy?
Also, would you get Qantas status credits and FF points as if it is a Qantas flight or does this depend on the type of fare you book?

Additional baggage allowance is not a OneWorld benefit so I would have not expectation that MH would pass on their own FF baggage allowance to other alliance members.Does anyone know if a Qantas Gold (OW Sapphire) will get the 50% extra baggage allowance that MH Enrich Gold members do when flying with MAS or is it just the standard 20kg in economy?
It will depend on the actual fare type booked. If its deemed an eligible fare (based on the fare booking class) then it will earn both SC and points. But if its not deemed an eligible booking class then you won't earn anything. Also, would you get Qantas status credits and FF points as if it is a Qantas flight or does this depend on the type of fare you book?
I transfer from Westpac to Enrich and the flight availability and points cost has been great
A couple of weeks ago, at short notice, I booked SIN-KUL-MEL in business class on MH using all of 34,000 Enrich miles. 30,000 QFF points for economy not really an attractive alternative, especially given (lack of) availability (ie. class award availability was on Jetstar).

You raise an interesting question as to whether one should switch to Enrich, how do their earn rates compare with QFF?

No, because Qantas is leaving OneWorld, according to a few members
Lot of their lower economy fares earn <1 pt/mile, but when they link up with QFF I imagine those earn rates will be reflected in QFF as well. With the 1000 pt minimum guarantee, for short haul QF flyers also QF is clearly superior (eg SYD-MEL 2.2 pts/mile). If never get status then Enrich seems good. If you would only get QF Silver (50%) bonus, Enrich again seems quite good (Enrich status - all tiers - get 25% bonus). Once getting into Gold/Platinum its' the status bonuses that make QFF better.
For Credit Card, Enrich seems better unless you can get a significant bonus (in the order of >0.5 pts per $) for QF pts.

If MH don't change their burn rates, and charge similar rates for partner redemptions as they do for their own metal, after joining OneWorld then MH is going to be one hell of a good program to earn into!

.
But to complete the picture, its a 330, pay roughly $250 of tax for the one way and no points earn and penalties for changing etc.
