Can we start talking about/figuring out nice little status runs, or is it too early?

PNH-KUL-TYO-LAX in D. 600 SCs return for about $2100 AUD.

I think even:

PNH-KUL-PEN-HKG-NRT-LAX-NRT-HKG-PEN-KUL-PNH is possible for 800 SCs...

Does QFF get additional benefits? Bonus or luggage?

Sent from my GT-I9100 using AustFreqFly

How does CX regional J stack up against MH's product?
I haven't tired MH yet but they are using 737's quite a lot in Asia for some lengthy flights.

I know which aircraft I prefer but it all comes down to what is best for me and if SCs are the same I would rather transit in KUL with some cheap Hilton stays than HKG with expensive budget hotels.

I flew MH 737 regional J a month or two back (KUL-HKT) - I can't compare to CX, but it's essentially the same as DJ 737 dom J (so, similar to QF 737 dom J too - but it had "leather" seats so I use DJ as the comparison). Each seat did have a VOD AV system though.

It was kinda weird actually - I was on a brand new 737-800 (complete with BSI interior) so everything in the cabin was also new, as you'd expect... except the J seats! They were comfy enough, but showing lots of wear and tear - I assume they must've been pulled out of another plane and refitted into this one.

Sometimes MH full Y fares are very cheap too. Not a bad option, if you're just after EQP on AAdvantage. Probably not so much for QFF SCs.

If flying to/from KUL on MH, then it is worth noting the One World partners and partners elect which transit KUL. These are:

Royal Jordanian: KUL-Bangkok
Sri Lankan Airlines: KUL-Colombo
Cathay Pacific: KUL-Hong Kong
Japan Airlines: KUL-NRT
.........and perhaps Firefly to SIN. Does anybody know if MAS affiliate Firefly is also a OW affilate?

For QF:
Jetstar: KUL-SIN
China Eastern: KUL-PVG and Zhengzhou
and maybe EK: KUL-DXB and KUL-MEL

I've never got any OW or *A points flying them out of SZB ... which is a coughpy terminal with poor food options IMHO.

Why would you get points? I think the question is more related to when MH join.

On Firefly to be determined.
Note there seem to be a couple of types of Firefly.
The regional ATR72 operation which is branded Firefly, and some Malaysian branded 737s that are operated by Firefly.

I would also be careful in booking MH Economy fares assuming they will earn. We are yet to see an earning table and based on the Kingfisher experience unlikely to come out till the day they actually join. Should be okay on Business.

FWIW, MAS are resuming their Perth-Kota Kinabalu flights from mid December 2012. So from Feb 1, 2013 this route adds to the OneWorld options ex-Australia. Looks like they are using a 737.

Additional OW options from BKI include

Dragon Air: Hong Kong
Malaysia Airlines: Hong Kong, Shanghai, Osaka, Brunei, Taipei and KUL
