[EDIT]
Saturday November 6th is the date
[/EDIT]

Hi all

With Xmas pending, many events happening such as GP's, Grand Finals, the Gathering 3 etc, I thought it would be appropriate to offer a choice of a couple of dates for our next dinner and drinks. I think the Saturday works well, it allows better use of hotel facilities and also interstate guests to attend.

With that in mind, I would propose the Meat and Wine Co for dinner - we will have to pre book though, so a choice of dates is important.

Also, your willingness to vote on this poll would suggest that unless something untoward happens, your willingness to attend ;)

Of course I would anticipate the evening would end with the 18o6 Guild heading away for a Zombie or two...

Also, is a fixed menu an acceptable option if available? You comments on that appreciated.

Cheers

munitalP

re: MEL Dinner & Drinks [Saturday Nov 6th 2010]

Sat 13th of November is out for a lot of us (Sydney train trip, not coming munitalP?).

It looks like I have a last minute work trip coming up and won't be here for most of October, so those w/ends are out for me unfortunately.

Damn, Christmas is coming up quickly

9 OCT - CHC (If it's not still shaking!)
16 OCT - somewhere between LAX and BOS
23 OCT - BOS
30 OCT - PER
6 NOV - MEL
13 NOV - SYD
21 NOV - ORD

Now i've actually looked at my calendar, I am actually in town on the 6th of November. I'd probably pass on the Meat & Wine Co and just jump to 18o6 though :)

I'm away every weekend mentioned.. and the 13th is out with the Sydney train trip.

I'd like to propose a totally different date..

Monday 1st November - Cup Eve... Most people will have Tuesday off (I have to work at the races - darn!!).

But I think such a date could work out well??? Thoughts?

I'd be planning on staying in town. Those dates do tend to span the VATC/VRC Spring Carnival (with inflated Hotel prices):
  • 9th October is CAULFIELD GUINEAS
  • 16th October is CAULFIELD CUP
  • 30th October is DERBY DAY
  • 6th November is STAKES DAY
  • 13th November is SANDOWN CLASSIC

re: MEL Dinner & Drinks [Saturday Nov 6th 2010]

The following dates do not work for us.
Friday 22nd Oct - Friday 29th Oct. (BNE then DRW)
Sunday 7th Nov - Wednesday 24th Nov. (Hawaii)
The weekend 11th - 13th Dec is also probably not good as a few people could be at Air NZ Mega DO - AKL, CHC, and ZQN
Personally I am not a fan of the Meat and Wine Co after the last rather poor effort but I'm willing to go along if that is the choice.

Voted for 9th Oct but am also good with 16th Oct.

Urge to vote in poll too great… must resist…

If that was the one I went to, I’d agree, it wasn’t that good!

Voted for Nov 6, although Oct 16 would also work.

I am not an easy person to please and I actually thought it was not too bad.

Me too.... Anzac Day was good.... Love to attend one of these events but dates do not suit and best I try and save some money for the important things....

re: MEL Dinner & Drinks [Saturday Nov 6th 2010]

I happen to be in Mel on Sat Dec 4th if this date is ever chosen:p

re: MEL Dinner & Drinks [Saturday Nov 6th 2010]

I am hosting a group at the Caulfield cup this year.... That knocks out the 16th.
PM me if you are in town on that date and wish to attend... I will have a few spots available!! All inclusive full catered!

Had I not been going to Delhi I may have been tempted!

re: MEL Dinner & Drinks [Saturday Nov 6th 2010]

Thanks munitalP for putting this idea up. I'm going to be a spoilsport of sorts and say the steak I had at Meat and Wine Co last time was appalling - (I was probably the only one having that particular selection), but I know plenty of others there were perfectly happy with their meals, and had I ordered similarly I may have been quite satisfied.

That out of the way, I think at this stage I am pretty OK for any of the dates, and keen to take part.

re: MEL Dinner & Drinks [Saturday Nov 6th 2010]

Either the 9th or the 16th October could work for me; if I decide to book flights,

No, I won't vote as I really shouldn't be flying down to Melbourne just for dinner.

re: MEL Dinner & Drinks [Saturday Nov 6th 2010]

Voted for sat 16 oct but most days suit, look forward to next update.

re: MEL Dinner & Drinks [Saturday Nov 6th 2010]

My work trip has been confirmed. The only w/end i'm here is the 6th November.

Here's hoping it's that w/end :D

re: MEL Dinner & Drinks [Saturday Nov 6th 2010]

I'm interested and pretty flexible for all dates given I'm not going anywhere. :(

re: MEL Dinner & Drinks [Saturday Nov 6th 2010]

I can also do 6th Nov now given my work trip has been delayed. :)
