My money is on a no show due to severe weather delays. ;)

such lack of confidence in me - i hooked the REX flight at 0930 ORANGE/SYD and now have DJ842 SYD/MEL ETA 1430

ETA at venue 1745 (unless Mrs! finishes work early...)

Crazy Dave - you in SYD?

Mr!

:)

I've been running late all day.

Revised ETA is 17:30-17:45
Departure around 19:30

serfty,

Have you left the drinkies early or is it so exciting that you are playing on your phone:?:
I left the drinkies at an appropriate time given I had an hours trip home.

Leaving at an inappropriate time several weeks ago cost me ~$150 in taxi fare and extra drinks

Lots of beer... Great to catch up with AFF friends again! Serfty kept reappearing in the bar - he said the trains were cancelled but we all know the truth, he was having fun and didn't want to leave

Teppanyaki - somewhere in China town

Great meal - selection catered for everyone's requirements - the set course most of us had was:
  • Sashimi and Sushi
  • Miso Soup
  • Rice
  • Bean shoots & Green leaf - possibly spinach
  • Chicken
  • Beef
  • Prawns
  • Lemon ice cream
QF009 had a no fish option and notzac had a vege option (which looked and smelled fantastic!)

I consided this restaurant to be great value for money - with a couple of beers, 3 bottles of vino - $60 odd each...

Flashwear did have an issue with a "live" prawn body that kept missing his mouth, other than that though, I think everyone enjoyed their meal!

We left in search of a bar...

Flashwear and his uncontrollable psychotic luggage + friend departed company at this stage somewhere in the crowds of China Town, we did get a TXT to let us know he was OK a bit later though - live prawn bodys, luggage with psychoses - like something out of a diskworld novel...

Mrs munitalP took a liking to the price of the Taittenger at 1806 so a bottle was quickly disposed of by the now loyal die-hard AFF 1806er's and a another round of drinks ordered - QF009 had a Chartreuse mix which was devine - Mr! stuck with a more simple coughtail of water, yeast, hops and sugar served in a tall brown glass vessel with a fantastic gold edging... Notzac and his never dying love of good Gin held the fort on that front while Penegal and Mrs! stayed with the bubbles...

Penegal bid his farewells and then there were 4...

RU-CO (Grand Hyatt)

We were heading to a club - Mr & Mrs munitalP had an urge to cut up a dance floor - not to be though, lines of people - we couldn't be bothered waiting so up the stairs into the Grand Hyatt into RU-CO (someone help me, what was this bar formerly called?) to the delight of QF009 on seeing the ambience in here - open fires, beautiful surroundings - good drinks and not too pricy either - I might even use the word chiq..

A couple more drinks, Mr! and QF009 sorted out quite a number of the worlds political problems and home started looking good- Mr & Mrs munitalP taxied home and we were through the door at about 330am..

Thanks for a great night out everyone - these gatherings are becoming my focal point on my Melbourne monthly events calendar and cant wait for the next one to roll around

A train was canclled - I caught the next one 24 minutes later - enough time to rejoin for another bevvy (quite convenient having a venue above a railway station :p).

Taittinger! Nice drop, they were serving some in the SYD Int F lounge last week. ;)

Mr! (and Mrs I guess tho she's still in bed!)

:)

Something's not quite right here.:) Mr!, how did you manage to indulge in all the above and still remember it in such detail? :p

That's a very good effort, both in doing and remembering. Sounds like a teriffic night was had.

Nice sum up there Mr!. :D I am glad that over a few mojitos we've managed to abolish poverty, reverse global warming, cure cancer, bring back Michael Jackson from the dead, and agree that the Rudd government is super. Well, maybe that's not quite right - but my memory could've been impaired somewhat. :p I do remember though that I was in a taxi with an engine problem and it finally breathed its last somewhere along Royal Pde. That was a somewhat harrowing taxi ride.

Thanks to Mrs! for the recommendation, it was a nice dinner indeed. :D

An awesome night was had by all. Thanks again for a fantastic night everybody. :)

Indeed, thankyou to all who made it. It was a good night.

It sounds like you were quite productive after I left?

Sorry for editing the prev post too many times, just that bits and pieces of my memory were slowly returning. :P

Nice pics. LOL I remember those bibs.

Sounds like an awesome night was had by all. Shame I missed it, but maybe I can come another time... provided I have enough money!!

Was a fantastic night out! Great summary, munitalP - am also looking forward to the next one!

serfty, 1806 has the Taittinger NV Brut by the glass as well as a very reasonable bottle price. :)

LOL! I didn't realise you guys were kicking on! BTW, said friend is a friend of QF009's that I just happen to know ;)

Woke up feeling alright this morning, so in that case a good night! 'tis a shame that food kept missing my mouth....

Cheers guys!

So - time to start planning the next drinks! Looking at my calendar, I'd like to propose 18th September - does this work for everyone else? We seem to have a pattern of the last weekend of the month going, but I'm not going to be in MEL on the 25th so that date doesn't work for me. ;)

Thoughts?

No drinks in October though as that weekend will fall on AFF#3 ;)
