Any advice on how to get from Airport to lunch venue and not use a taxi?

I guess it is the skybus from airport to Flinders Street and then a tram to Southbank? Which one? Will it be more cost effective to purchase a day ticket for use on trams?

I normally walk it!

Any way a Sunday Saver ticket costs $3.10 and will give you unlimited public transport all day Sunday (as long as you stay in zone 1 and 2!).

Probably a bit late, but doesn't skybus go to Spencer St Station.

But I'd say a walk from Flinders St to Southbank.

Skybus definitely; $26 return. (You can get to or from the Airport and the City using (non skybus) bus and trains for $5.80, but the service at the airport is infrequent and you'd need an extra hour or so to travel.)

The walk's about 20 minutes from spencer st Sation to the lunch venue..

A Metcard zone 1 daily ticket @$6.80 may be the go. That gives yo to lunh, from lunch to 'g and from 'G to Skybus.

Twelve people made it to lunch which was, depending upon what you ordered, good to very good. An expensive venue ($8 or $9 a stubby) but with some quite good specials available. (Meal and stubby or wine for $20)

Everyone had a good time and it was good to finally catch up with munitalP (pity about St Kilda) who has managed to avoid me until now.

I hope that those who have ventured to the football to watch Essendon get bombed out, are enjoying themselves. The weather has remained better than forecast and relatively kind so they are probably OK.

Meanwhile, I'm in a relatively quiet MEL QP, watching the weather and waiting for my flight. Lots of plane spotting, sat by the windows with a beer.

My breakfast and attempt at lunch has finally cleared my stomach, so alcohol intake resumes.

It was silent during the dawn service where I was, but I've been told it doesn't count if I was asleep. ;)
... and he was asleep as I could here him snoring through the wall.

What are the odds :?: We book at the Hilton South Wharf and end up in the next door room to samh004, Bundy Bear and anat0l :!:

Great to catchup witth everyone again. About to get on a DJ flight to Sydney but I had a great day in Melbourne even though Collingwood won the match at the MCG.

... and he complained that I snore when I shared a room with him in AKL
Don't share a room with him in AKL. :p

You certainly sounded like you enjoyed the game, from the phone call I could tell you’d had a few :)

I made it back to the GC safely too, as you can see. The flight was excellent, blocked seat next to me and loads of leg room once again. I could get used to this… ;)

Yes it was great watching a game of Australian Rules at the MCG. Big crowd, lovely atmosphere and good company. I did have a few beers before, during and after the game. ;) Missed golf this morning though. :(

I must have crashed as soon as I sat in my 6D seat (with 6E vacant) on the DJ flight and the next thing I remember is waking up when we were at the gate in SYD. Interesting that DJ are using Embraer's on this route and the plane was almost empty. Stark contrast to the full QF 767 flight on the way down earlier in the morning.

Arrived home from a great weekend in Melbourne, a visit to 2 Qantas First Lounges makes for a great long weekend.

Thanks to all the +1s who were at lunch and who I got to talk to during Sunday.

That’s a long thank you list, I must say a big thank you to both Bundy Bear and anat0l for letting me sleep on their floor on Saturday night, guesting me into the F lounge and sneaking me into the Exec lounge.

Was much appreciated!!!!

To be fair, it was Bundy Bear doing the snoring, but not through the dawn service. ;)

Now you blown my chances of any cheap accommodation, maybe I wasn't using enough of the right drugs.

... and he complained that I snore when I shared a room with him in AKL :!:

I can't ever remember complaining.

Don't share a room with him in AKL.

It was after the Waimarama in New Zealand before the flight back to Sydney from Auckland with a wake up call at 3:30am in December 2009. Lan Chile.

I could have slept at the airport.

One could be forgiven thinking there is a religious cult order operating here!!!!

So what date should we put you down for your AFF induction.
