MH 777 missing - MH370 media statement

I have read every post since last Saturday, felt the confusion, sadness along with everyone else here. My mind now goes to... if they stole the plane, killed the passengers... what are they going to use the plane for? a variation on 9/11? I suddenly feel frightened.

Wouldn't the oxygen masks be auto deployed ?

Or, could that be switched off ?

Assuming that had been the case, why would the hijackers want to have dead bodies instead of live ones for ransom ?

The pax would have been none the wiser, except the few looking at flight path on IFE (could that be turned off too?).

The oxygen only lasts for a certain time, it would keep everyone under control and as it runs out, solve further possible control problems (remember 9-11 had one place where pax tried to take back control). I am sad to say people who do these things see little value in hostages as such, if the 777 is what they want.

Yes, me too, did not have much luck w' the live feed either.
I tried watching on ABC24 but it just pixellates all the time like all the digital ABC channels. Does anyone else get this? Every other channel is fine except the four ABC channels. Been like this for weeks.

Even if the plane landed somewhere, would they have the ability and resources to refuel it in a location undetectable to military?

Maybe ransom for the passengers wasn't the aim.....

Maybe they just wanted the plane, my thoughts skip ahead to what they want with the plane and when it may pop up again.

I know its all speculation, sorry, but I am trying to make sense of something that makes no sense.

The other interesting thing to ponder is that of the 249 odd people on board flight MH370 - not one of them forgot to go to flight mode/turn off their mobile phone, thats a compliance rate of 100%. You would think with that many people, that one of them would have forgotten to turn off their mobile phone....

Wait until after the Sydney Retune this coming Tuesday, things might improve?

Someone out there somewhere knows something..wait... did i say anything?

Given the reports of some mobile phones ringing the next morning, it would indicate somewhere over land. Really wonder what the call logs will bring up...

Here's the latest from Flying With Fish on Twit.

Would flying at FL450 give less resistance and therefore be able to fly a longer distance than the estimate flying hours on the original route? So if at FL370 is could fly 7.5 hours, would going higher allow it to fly longer?

I don't believe the aircraft actually reached FL450. That's 2000ft above the 777 certified ceiling and the aircraft at the time was heavy. Aeroplane's are able to exceed the ceiling fairly easily, however in that part of the world and at such a heavy weight my opinion is that it couldn't have made 450.

She wasn't that heavy considering she hit cruise in 20 minutes of FL350 and had tanks at 45% cap.

Okay, what amazes me is that Boeing, rolls Royce, MAS, Honeywell, Malaysian Govt, or any other group that that forms part of the plane or Wider picture don't have some kind of GPS tracking (regardless of what the pilot or anyone else on board turns on or off)!!!

We are talking about a >$200 million piece of equipment how can it just disappear!?

It is going to be an interesting week. Fingers crossed there are survivors
